I have only seen 1 in the flesh and at that it was just from behind for about 2 seconds.

Any thoughts on how they look. I have the Twin hump EGR made Holden lid and I am not a big fan of it but at the time of purchase it was the only one and I need it for work. So thoughts and any photo's would be good.

You mean the EGR slimline one? Have been around for over 6 months now but can't be very popular as I've still not yet seen one. Also very expensive! Mine cost less than half an EGR one and I'm still well in front even with mine automated!

Pics of EGR slimline in posts 334, 343 and 376 of Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=82963).

Contact Trevor at http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/FLAT-TOP-PRODUCTS__W0QQ_armrsZ1 as he has them, plus other styles or just ring the number on the side of the ute and say Wonky said to ring him. From what I've seen so far he is the only one with that style of lid. worknssv and I bought our lids from there - very good to deal with! Not far from here so I've called in and had a chat quite often.

Hi its trev
the GTO lid has a silent tail on it the Flowline has a flush tail.
Flat Tops styleline is flat all with hidden hinges and remote lidloks.

Flat Top did develop a "VE Storm Lid" with bigger bumps , it is still being molded for those that want?? listed on website manual locks only. Most of the storms are sold on the VY VZ utes it looks better with horizontal tub , the VE has a slight slope which suits the above three designs(anyway beauty in eye of beholder so??)

by the way all the V8 racing utes have the GTO lids. Most are the newer composite ones not the original Holden ones

i have a slimline hardlid from blueys on my ve, they look much better that the factory ones though i dont think the finish on them is as good, fibre glass quality is not as good maybe, i found that mine looks very rippley, even worse under different light, am i to fussy, is this how they are,is that just fibreglass being fibreglass, wat have some of you guys experienced
cheers

if they are vac infused generally the cure is more even and you dont get that ripply look after a while under the australian sun!! . The problem is the mold is more expensive only worthwhile on popular lids.
there is a raft of asian fibreglass lids about that are just chopper gunned with paper honeycomb ?? ive seen what happens after 2 weeks in the sun ???

yeah i have the EGR hard cover on mine too, at the time i loved it because of the twin humps. but now i hate it because of the big fat speed bump at the rear of it, i would love to do a trade in for a slim one like shown

I had a slimline/ flat Blueys hardlid on my ve ss ute. I couldn't fault the finish or quality of the lid. It gave me no problems and showed no rippling etc. I'd buy another Blueys lid if I was ever to need one again. I have no experience of any other brands so can't compare.

I'm thinking about buying one.....Are you just talking about the paint finish or more?
Am i better off sourcing one thats unpainted and getting it painted myself if so?

dont hand your money over until you see wat your gettin mate thats my advice, worse thing for me is im in tassie and have no one down here sellin hard lids so had to source from mainland which is hard cause your handing money over before you can see wat your gettin, finish on my last 2 wasnt good and painting it wont fix it, think the problem is in the mould maybe?? paint is ok but only ok

Go down to Dandy Sth and see Trev at Flattop (93-95 Williams Rd, off Greens Rd). That's where worknssv and I got ours over 18 months ago and haven't had a problem and they've improved several aspects since then eg hinges. In the right light after they're washed and polished I can notice some very slight ripples but I rarely see them. I sometimes call in there to say hello and I'm sure he'd be happy to show you their painting process (they also paint parts for some car manufacturers inc Holden, Ford, Toyota, BMW etc eg. the Holden turtle covers). They can fit them onsite so I'm sure you'd be able to go down there and get it fitted after checking that you were happy with it.

If you mention I sent you he might even give you a small discount (then again he might add a surcharge ). :D He is on eBay as seller ttfn2tt (see http://shop.ebay.com.au/ttfn2tt/m.html)

i ordered an EGR lid when i bought my car,

when they fitted it,

the black lid had the worst swirl marks, and it had to be repainted.

i am not sure if it was a monkey hanging off a buff a holden, or if thats how it turned up from EGR.

i tried to cancel my order and get one of Trev's from flat top.

If i had my time again, i definitely would have stuck with a slim line from Trev.

wat ever you do i beg you not to go to hi class composites, there warranty is a lie and workmanship is crap, and my second one come cracked and there wiping there hands clean from it when they payed for cheap ass freight for the warranty claim, im now taking legal action with them as we speak, the guy is a prick:flipoff:

I bought one from Trev in March and couldn't be happier, its got the lid loks so it doesn't have key holes and is keyed in to lock with the doors. I was driving from Brisbane to hobart so had hundreds of bugs all over the front of my ve ute
and he gave me a hand cleaning them all off while they fitted the lid, Top Bloke

Holden don't make the hard cover in the 1st three pics anymore (Both cars are mine)....It was only available in 08'......It was a $3200 option....They do have 2 that you can order now but they look sh!t i reckon....Holden really do need a good hard cover.....

Very intrested in getting one of Flat Tops lid with remote lid lock; haven't decided whether to go for bob tail design or flowline; what do you guys think? What is involved in fitting lid lock, looking at pic on their website it looks like you have to chop a piece out of liner and how it it attached ? I assume it would involved drilling some holes in tub? Also what electical work is involved? Cheers chris

Best to just ring Trev - he's almost always happy to chat for a while unless you catch him at a bad time and he's under the pump. I called in there yesterday and was chatting for about 20 mins.

Na gotta pop tub out to lay in harness for lid lock then drill two holes for wires to servos. feed wires to fuse box (i use old sailing batten to poke wire thru) tap into drivers door feed. mount override circit and wire polarisation then mount servos. Lid latches for locks already in lid. easy 2 hours me you 3?
