OK so I'll be up front here and admit straight out that this car is not a Holden but if you read the build thread you may be suprised at how much a red VY SS donated to the build up anyway! LOL!
Team Mobile Mayhem are entering their fully race prepared XD (Yes I did say XD!) in next years Drift Australia series.
I know! I know! its a FORD but bear with me, this thing is wicked and no one will disagree that we need as many OZZY cars out there on the drift circuit as possible!
Drift Australia is back again in 2010 with a full 5 round national series so there will be plenty of opportunity to get out and barrack for a OLD SCHOOL V8 BEAST as Danny and the team take it up to the competition!
A full build thread is available for viewing at

It would be great to see plenty of V8 fans get out to the drifting and get involved in this spectacular sport.
See you at the track in 2010!

Drifting a great sport to be involved in BUT your choice of vehicle would have to be questionable. I prefer the 180. I would put a pic up if I could work out how

Gday Wagnman,
I like the build thread, i'm keen to get out there and see what she does.
Keep us posted on event dates and locations champ.
P.S I notice the seats mount direct to the floor, did you require any additional bracing?
Guys, I have seen this thing drift, it is awesome! Good luck with 2010 buddy.

Without a doubt 180's, silvias, and skylines are the "logical" choice but once you have seen one you have seen them all and there are so many already competing that they tend to blend in together.
Making them stand out is hard.
An XD though?........................................... ...
Dont forget that that danny's XD will be at least as light as the Nissans and have comparable suspension / brakes and arguably a more powerful / stronger and more reliable driveline.
I'm not saying that Mobile Mayhem will be at the top of the pile but rest assured the team will be competitive and improve throughout the series.

Cheers Mungrel.
At this stage the series is set to be held over 5 rounds. So far the news has been that there will be rounds in QLD, NSW, Perth and either Adelaide or Melb with the final back in Sydney.
the organizers are fully committed to a full 5 rounds next year and the events will be televised.
Dates are yet to be released as they have to wait till the V8 supercars lock in their event dates.
the seats did require extra bracing with Rusty making up special mounting brackets. Russell is the team mechanical engineer so we generally go with what he advises.

Thanks Bazz.

Yeh the Drift didnt actually die but the "series" got reduced to only one round this year for reasons not full known to me so I wont speculate.
2010 it will be back in full swing.
There are alot of people preparing machinery for the series next year and this year of "lay off" may well produce some very impressive vehicles.
The new owners have some very exciting plans in store for the future though and if they bring them about I believe the sport will really move forward again in the near future.

It's good to see more Aussie cars giving drifting a go. Personally I think it gets boring when you see the usual drifting suspects all the time. 180s, Silvias, Skylines etc. I know those cars are the ideal choices, but like the OP said when you've seen one, you've seen them all.
An XD is probably an odd choice, but atleast it's different.

was in at Mobile Mayhem yestrday... the XD looks nice and tough with it's new motor!
Its good to see an aussie entry into the series but my support already goes to Greg (Thunder) from sureflo's 300zx, at least it has an LS1 in it :)

There was a little progress over the week end on the XD as well guys with the radiator being fitted.
It seems to take so long to get these last details finished with everyone hanging out to see the thing out on the track.

We bought a new workshop hose, 120 bucks worth gets you 30 meters, kink resistant, 20 years warranty, and flash quick release fittings, so quick that we dropped the brass (of all things!) nozzel into the bottom of the LH tank, doh! Back to bunnings and grabbed a little 4 jaw grippy thing and brad rips it out, we would of done a renactment for the camera but seriously to get that out was pure ass. And I found being smart sometimes bites hard
i was in the workshop when this happened... the look on everyones face when the hose come up without the attachment was gold!... OH F&^K!
that engine has some serious power!.. can't wait to see it on the track
