For those sick of cookie cutter bland Camrys, this car is going to make Camry's life hell

another excellent product from Hyundai, it's chalk and cheese to what they were building only 5 years ago, no wonder Toyota is looking over their shoulder:1peek:

Nice product to put the heat on Toyota.

Not to bad, for a Hyundai - Wouldn't catch me driving one though.

Don't think I'd actually buy one, but at least they are having a good shot at improving their product, the front looks like it is related to the front of the Ssangyong ute. The current Sonata isn't bad looking for its place in the market, I'm not so keen on the interior of the current car.

I think it looks great. I wonder if it will get the 3.8L V6 from the Genesis.

i nearly fell off my chair when i saw the pics, looks like shit :spew:. the front looks like a blow fish, the inside looks like it has been stretched and pulled forward (could just be the photo but) and its got that funcky looking 'H' on the front, :)

Looks like every pic was taken with a wide angle lens. There is a little bit of distortion, it appears.

These blokes that say it looks like :spew: are prolly the same blokes that love the day lights on the new e series or the space ship like exhaust tips that wont allow you an aftermarket exhaust without using those same tips not to mention the disgusting wheels on the gts......

I think the new Sonata is a great looking car very futuristic inside...... nice flowing lines and the bum of the car looks a little AMG Mercedes like......

You die hard Holden fans give credit where credit is due, its a long long way from there early days of $13995.00 excel sprints........

Well said mate... Seems if it hasnt got a Holden badge, it just doesnt cut the mustard..

Im with you, a good looking car, and the 3.5 V6 doesnt look like a bad engine at all.

It's got a bit of that MB CLS 'banana look' about it. The CLS looks great!

It looks good. This car will probably eat into all large car sales not just Camry but Commodore and Falcon as well.

That is exactly right....... Its funny to think that Hyundai have come so far with the cars they produce in the last 10 years in terms of shape style engines and what not and then take a look at Holden and Ford and see how little they have changed in terms of engines and style/shape....... The local market needs a good boot in the backside....... Make some serious change and stop with the facelift cars.......

...because a 2009 VE Commodore looks so similar to, and has the same engines as, a 1999 VT?

Ford may be stuck in a rut of continually rehashing the AU, but that certainly isn't true of Holden's efforts.

When you start from the bottom, the only way is up.

Hyundai's were cheap because people were prepared to pay for cheap cars. Now Hyundai are actually building quality into their cars. Personally, I still wouldn't spend money on them but heaps of others will. Hyundai will continue to match or exceed the competition in terms of quality and value.

back when toyota started out, they were considered a budget cheapie brand, much like hyundai is/was. so it was only a matter of time before hyundai started making a half decent product.

Yep - and this is why I reckon, in time, Hyundai will eat Toyota's lunch. People buy Toyotas not because they have any great affection for Toyota (4WD Toyota fans excluded, possibly, but I'm talking Corolla/Camry buyers), but because Toyota offers a reliable, inoffensive, relatively good value product which is perfect for people who don't care about cars.

So when Hyundai comes along, also offering a reliable and inoffensive product but for less money...what is there to stop Toyota buyers switching? They don't care about Toyota because they don't care about cars, so why should they care about switching to another brand?

Exactly right...this seems to be already happening...there are a lot of new Hyundai's on the road today.

The i30's are everywhere in Sydney, they are selling like hot cakes here, makes the Corolla look even more mundane, if that's possible...

I don't have anything Hyundai in general... i30, Santa Fe, etc seem to be good cars... but a Camry looks better than that!

erm antithesis car to this forum mate. if you live a double life and own an econobox second car might want to take your closet worship/admiration to another forum...

i've driven 4 hyundais between 1996-2006 models and they were all tragically inferior to their contemporaries, notably a 2005 elantra v my girlfriends sp23 larger motor not withstanding. quality, ride, handling, interior plastics, reliability (dash cluster stuffed, radiator & a/c died, misc squeaks and rattles) clutch take-up, gear box feel all inferior

they improve but so does the rest of the automotive world
