What exactly happens when you blow your clutch?? My clutch was shagged for months and months. I waited day after day for it to fail. I ended up getting a new clutch before it ever eventuated...

Not quite sure about it being a "funny story"!
You look like you knew it was shagged, so ordered another one, but it died in the meantime.
Perhaps it was shagged for too long and you simply pushed your luck for too long not getting it replaced sooner.

Anyone thinking of getting into these cars the LS Clutches are the weakest link engines & boxes are almost bulletproof but the clutches are shite.:spew:

Depends on the driver of course. :)
Many owners treat their clutches like shite, yet amazingly tell themselves they are the most mechanically sympathetic owners out there! (Even whilst trying to do burnouts in the back streets or taking trips to the drags...:hide:)

Hi Bud sorry to hear about your clutch, i think I have the same clutch as you have just got, SSCC from memory. I have had it in for about 2 months, it was also fitted by the same workshop. Clutch has plenty of grip but just get ready for shudder in 1st & reverse. Let us know how you go.

yeah they said that might happen but when I picked it up they said that if you follow the run in procedure properly it should be ok.

I have found that the lower the revs the less chance of it shuddering, it also squeaks its head off some times. Not the best for peak hour driving or in carparks. See how it goes, good luck.

Let me know how you go with the clutch as I am interested to see if they all do it or it is just mine.

LOL I used to see your car & think "it needs to be lower" then I come past one day & bingo. I used to see it as my house is that last in the service lane just before you swing out onto the highway.

I reckon your mates car looks old school tuff!!

Let me know how you go with your clutch & what you think of it. I am very interested in your thoughts on it. Considering it is the same as mine.

clutch is in and so far so good,no noises or shudder.i've got to run it in for 500 kays though.they rekon if you dont follow the run in procedure to the T then you get shudder so I'm not taking any chances.pedal feels good a little heavy but still easy to drive.

What was the run in procedure they gave you, as they obviously forgot to let me in on this, even after they changed it

they gave me a sheet from clutch industries with the run in procedure.basicly it says to drive pretty dosile, light to moderate throttle,no hard gear changes or hard acceleration, but lots of frequent gear changes,i'm also trying not to slip it to much which is making my passengers a little annoyed.
