View Full Version : Fitting a OTRCAI to a Harrop Supercharger - VE GTS based

all,

I recently got a HTV2300 supercharger fitted to my VE GTS but the shop had problems (timing I suspect...) fitting it to my existing OTRCAI and opted for the lazy intake box only.

I know others have fitted otrcai's to the harrops which have given 20kw improvement (which have a silly left running air inlet flange) but cant find anyone who can do it. I have a feeling Marronos in Sydney will do it but being Melbourne based its a bit of a PITA.

Supposedly ORSSOM OTRCAI's have been successfully mated to Harrop super chargers ...

Ideas, suggestions?

I believe DUS was working on one and was going to release it this year.
But I'm not sure what happened with that.

I spoke with Damian at Harrop some time ago about this. He told me their Roots/Eaton style S/C all diverted the inlet to the passenger side and thereby could not be connected up to an OTRCAI - I too was looking at an Orssom unit at the time.

He told me they do have a component that has the inlet directly ahead for Hot Rod applications but after checking clearances he later advised that it would not fit under the VE bonnet.

I am not saying that it cannot be done, but it seems their is little if any existing gear out there to do it, and therefore you may well have to have something specially manufactured.

I'd be interested to learn how you go with it - good luck.

Cheers, TB

Last i heard from Dus was they are testing one on a car at the moment so i'm tipping wont be to much longer.

I seem to remember another company working on one too??

Will be great when one is released should sell well to being the only one on the market.

maybe something Ziggy can look at making or look into..
All his OTRs for standard applications are unbelievable quality and produce the goods..

thanks everyone for the replies.

Tyre biter - I understand that Sonny @ Marronos has make a jobbie for Harrops but this is only from searching through forums. Last post was for 2006.

I dont suspect it would be hard to do and if I had the time/patience I'd look at doing something myself as I dont suspect it would be too hard.

I have been quoted $800 from another forum for someone to rig something up; basically its a 90mm pipe in an S-bend configuration from the Harrop inlet to the front of the OTRCAI.

I guess thats my best option at this stage notwithstanding ringing Chev's too.

There is a way to do it but it is quite expensive ... Get the (still prototype) forward facing oval throttle body and supercharger snout from Harrop which clears the VE bonnet and fit a W427 (oval) or any other OTR ... In testing, Sam's found 50+hp in the throttle body alone with a high hp setup. However, the last time I asked about the price of the throttle body I was quoted a truly ridiculous figure so I am not sure if it is really feasible ...

Please let me know if you find something.

It cn be done but its very fiddly, most worsshops wont have the patience, its not really the power gain thats gratifying with a otr on the blower, its the throttle response...its awsome !

Sonny - thanks.

You got a price for something pre-cut that could be sent down to Melbourne and fitted by myself (?) and then I'd take it to a local mob to do a mafless tune and dyno?

Something like this would have to be done in person as something being out of my control usually ends in a pone call from the fitter "it wont fit" your best bet is to drive to melton and see phonsy at gm motorsport,i,m sure he can adapt his otr to your blower and provide you a quality tune to match it.
