Hey guys

gettin the clubby back tommoroe after its cam upgrade, just got off the phone to CHE and the car made 281rwkw, also had OTRCAI installed along with valve springs and pushrods. Already has 4.11 diff, exhaust and clutch.

Sorta hoping the car makes over 600nm of torque at the treads as a mate of mine has been tellin me all day that his skyline made 600NM at the treads and
that mine wont make that much which reckon its rubbish but would like to sorta comfirm before i start ripping into him tommorow. what do u guys reckon????

Anyway cant wait to drive it, ill let yas know the specs when i get them

cheers Joe

Get ready to have a big smile on your face. A new cam is a very enjoyable experience. Will be interested in seeing how you fair down the track this time.

I don't think you'd have 600nm of torque either.

what size cam mate?

Damn it, was sorta hopin it was goin to make the 600, might just keep my mouth shut tommoroe at work then.

The cams a low 13X's on inlet and exhaust, cant remember the exact number, not sure what the LSA is either but will let yas know. The cars still running stock cats and pretty rubbish extractors so not complaining with that figure.

Hope to run under 12.5 with streets but we'll see how it goes... Gotta beat that bloody skyline :flipoff:

What, you put a cam in with stock cats and horrible headers?
Change these asap :)
Not only will it sound better it will pick up RPM better I think :)

hhmmm yeah the tuner reckons there would maybe be anther 10rwkw, a new exhust would be nice but cant really justify spending another $1200+ for 10rwkw, sounds alright as is anyway.. cats can always be "highflowed" :)

Hey guys
Got the car back today, cam sounds awsome and pulls nice and hard, the cam is 228/228 112. It made the 281RWKW with 560 NM of torque. The guys at CHE reckon it was a good result considering the stock cats and cheap extractors. Can already tell its goin to chew a bit of fuel but thats the trade off. Any way very happy all round and a big thanks to the guys at CHE.

cheers Joe

I just got my car back today from CHE after a cam + clutch package.

I got 280.6rwkw. My cam was a 228/230 and it is insane. Really mean idle, the whole car shakes. Much more driveable through the revs though.

You'll be wrapped.

Cheers

Hey guys

Got the car back today, the cam sounds very tough and pulls hard, awsome throtte response as well. It made 281RWKW and 560 NM of torque. Cam specs are 228/228 and 112 LSA. Valve train is also alot quieter with the new springs and push rods which im very happy about.

The guys at Castle hill reckon it made good power considering the standard cats and cheap extractors. Can tell its goin to drink a bit of fuel around town but I can live with that.

Big thanks to the guys at castle hill, really happy with the job they done.

Joe

Sorry guys thought the first post didnt go through so i posted again accidently

jonesy_87_, what other mods have u got dont, what exhaust are you running. I can see myself gettin in trouble with the law with this new found power u speak of lol

did it pick up much <2000rpm fellas? the l98 is a beautiful motor but shifting a lot of weight. i'm wondering whether to satisfy myself with cam/tune/exh etc the NA route or save for the ASE T800 kit. feel like i need a bit more violence off the line...

what sort of cash did you guys spend to do this all up? i know i could ask sponsers but there's a lot and these guys have made the decisions and can tell me without a pitch
thanks guys

Hey guys

The cars a series 2 2002 Vx clubsport, LS1 obviously. car has 133,000 on the clock. The power feels pretty good under 2000 in my opinion, you can still drive down the highway in 6 at a 100 and it will accelerate like stock. Needless to say i still have to rev it a bit to make the big power but thats just cams.

All up the cam upgrade cost $4100. it included

Supply and fit cam and tune
OTRCAI-castle hill have their own custom metal intake with K&N filter
Valve springs
underdrive pulley
new belts
coolant change
pushrods
idler pulley
crank seal

I had other extra work done but thats the gist of it.
car already has

4.11 diff $800
Heavy duty clutch with flywheel $1100
Ripshifter $500

Cheers

good to see another mid sized cam out there. I think you'll be needing slicks for your next run.

Mine already has extractors, hi flow cats and a dual 2.5". Also has an OTR. All the work was done by CHE. I love sitting at the lights shaking on idle. Haha

What RPM she sit on with 4:11s doing 100kph? Any difference in fuel acconomy?

GTR_JOEY

Yeah the idle kicks ass, dont even drive with the radio on anymore. The car has a pretty good combination at the moment and im very happy with it as a cruiser and as a drag car.

the car sits on about 1800-1900rpm if i remember correctly, fuel economy is around the 10L mark at 100km but around town id say its around the 18L, thats with the cam in it now, before the cam was installed it used only a bit more then stock. Hope that answers ur question.

cheers

sure does. Cheers mate. Sounds to me like 4.11s is the go, we got a vz ss thunder 6.0L crewman, the misses keeps smoking clutches, so diff gears are the cheepest and easyest fix. It sits on 1500rpm @ 100kpm now with 3.46 gears. Where you buy the gears to suit a dana diff?

GTR_JOEY
10-10-2009, 03:21 PM
correct me if im wrong mate but i think the vz has shorter gearbox ratios then my vx so youll be revin a little bit harder i think, that is what i was told anyway. I actually bought the whole diff not just the gears so im not sure mate.. i bought the whole diff off ebay and installed it myself, cost 800 all up

cheers

281rwkw is a good figure for the standard cats and cheap extractors, throw on a set of 4 into 1s and some decent cats and should see at least another 10rwkw. Good power for $4100. Should be good for low 12's.

well matthew you need a new bride, ours got 102,000 on the clock and stock clutch, ive looked at diff gears for ours but they are different internals to the irs cars/utes, they are dana diffs so gears shouldnt be a problem to find

Great package Joey,

Where did you get your diff gears from for $800.00. I recently did a VZ with a 230/236/112 xfi comp, it has 3.73s now we are looking at 4.11s for it a complete centre hopefully and will keep a spare lol.
