My father is currently looking at new cars to buy, and a car on his list is the GTS he will be looking at, he understands that the GTS comes with the 6.2L engine, now what he was curious about is if he is able to pay the required costs to have a W427 7L engine put into the new E2 series GTS.

and if this is is a possibility, what path should he go down to make this possible.

I'd be talking to a performance shop, the manager at a holden dealership had a ls7 put in his calais V, again through a performance shop. As far as i understand it, holden fit the ls3 on the production line, and once the car got to hsv, HSV removed the ls3 and installed the ls7, with that all the bits required to fit a ls7. its a dry sump for starters.

The huge electrical upgrade for E2 would mean a total recalibration and validation for an LS7 into this car. In short, no.

Can you clarify what the electrical upgrade from E1 to E2 actually is? If its software rather than hardware, then it would have been a relatively simple tweak, I would have thought. You have a base from which to start from, and from the outside looking in, it seems that not much would need to be done.

I think everyone is under the impression that the only differences between the E1 and E2 are the launch control.....and isn't there some sort of 2 strage traction control? Anything else? Euro 4 isn't in till July next year, is it?

Hardware-wise, I think you would be nearly there, wouldn't you? Isn't it just the shot peened diff gears and motor that separate a W427 from a yellow badge GTS nowadays?

If all the above was accurate, wouldn't it be fair to say that the GTS with a 427 could be on the road for a maximum of 20K more than an E2 LS3 GTS?
