geez are pommies a bit stupid or something.

Every time someone criticised (rightly) for free revving an engine (thats probably brand new, cold and not under load!) ... they answer with "well the guy is a salesman for Vauxhall so im sure its OK"

What, are they stupid? he's a salesman, he'd screw the frickin pooch if it got him a sale, that's his job, they'll on sell the car and wouldn't think twice about it.

I cant believe how stupid some people are. Never , ever thrash a cold or non loaded engine, or at least not excessively and pointlessly.

I can understand revving it a few times, to show off its note etc, but why rev it continuously?

Idiots.

What a farkin dickhead. If I was his boss I'd be having a stern talk to him about mechanical sympathy.

I dont see the point in doing that no good would come to that engine by doing that and it looks very new arent new engines not meant to be rev to the shit house at first?

You have to ask yourself. But WHY. Does not prove anything and it just kept going and going. That is just stupid. Seriously stupid.

Might aswell put a brick on the throttle , about the same intelligence as the idiot revving it.

Some poor prick will end up with that car, would have been better if the wanker had blown it up.

revving it for 2 mins straight seems a bit pointless, but will it actually damage the engine? I'm sure the factory run-in process is more demanding on the engine than that?

I was well and truely over it 20seconds in..

If i was there id of gone and asked what was the point in that.. could of at least done drivebyes in it at speed would of been alot less harm on the engine that way.

NO.

Running in does not entail running to the limiter. And when they are running it in they put load on it, so it is actually not so bad to rev it out. Running in usually entails some low rev, low load running then gradually building up to some quick accelerations, but at no time will the engine hit the limiter or be run without load.

This guy is a clown and should never be allowed to touch a car again.

Nice cold start too a little rattle then bang on the rev limiter and WOW that stock motor stock exhaust combo sounds so sweeet .....NOT. Sounds like a lady was behind the wheel (runs and hides)

And again we are firmly reminded that nothing good ever came out of the UK ...... You'd think they'd never seen a V8 before ! Oh wait, they haven't lol Not that any of them would have the skills to drive it ...... :1peek:

The Poms have produced cars with better and even at many a time bigger V8's than we ever have.. Ever heard of Jensen, Austin Martin, TVR, Jaguar, MG to name a few. I can tell you right now the average Pom knows how to handle a car alot better than the average Aussie.. Think wet weather experience. Hell the average Aussie these days doesn't even know how to drive a manual car. Poms all know how to drive stick.

Over rev is not the same as free standing rev with no load.

Another reason to bring back the death penalty.

That was so painful... I had to close it after 20 seconds

How could you do that? Although to be honest it probably didnt do that much damage. Its a brand new engine...

(I know its really a bad idea to rev that hard with no load, but ive seen engines take much worse punishment without dying).

He could have popped the clutch in the VXR! That would have been worth all those revs. :)

If anything that display of stupidity would deter me from buying a car off them. Pretty dumb really.

As for that dumbshit in the Audi. I thought he was trying to gas himself at first. Drunk ass punk.

all these ppl sayin thats a good way to fuk an engine can go **** off. vauxhall engines are virtually bullet proof and can take that kind of abuse. altho the 2 mins is just overkill It must be ok, coz its a Vauxhall engine.
