Hi guys, I saw the other day a CV8 Monaro with LED tail lights and I was wondering if anyone knows where you can get them. The are a black look tail light, not the poofy chrome/clear ones. Anyone else seen them about and do you think the LED ones look any good?? Any tips on where to get them?
Cheers

sorry I cant help you with where to get the tail lights from but I have the black ones you are talking about in my CV8, and there is a chrome ring around the tail light lens that has small 5mm indents around it. I have often looked at it and thought you could bang leds in that ala ve GTS style(before they came out) but have never got around to doing it, but could easily be done.

when convertin rear lights to LED do you need to add anything to the wiring ie load resistor or something to counter the drop an watts??

if you are VY onwards then yeah as the BCM will pick up the difference and detect a blown globe, but these would be made as a circuit board set up any way so the all the resistors and LEDS would be neat. keep in mind though that there would be quite a few LEDS so you would be running them both in serial and parralell so the requrement for added hardware ie resistors would be minimal if even required at all.

ok cool i think i understand a little now, i got a tonner and the lights on there now just ruin the look, thinkin the led's would give it an updated look. cheers
I think you'll find the car had aftermarket tail lights with LED's, which i would bet dont meet ADR's and are defectable. I have seen these around(although usually on stock white V6 VTs with the standard garnish panel in between, if you get my meaning), pretty sure autobarn and the like sell them.

hmmmm...agreed, they don't look all that flash close up...in the distance they didn't look too bad when the brake lights were on..maybe having second thoughts...
Thanks for your input guys..
Cheers
