Hi Guys,

Has anyone experienced a knocking noise in the engine bay when you first start the car. I am experiencing it intermittently.

When I turn the ignition key, the engine starts and then followed by a *clunk* noise. It sounds like it's coming near the bottom of the car, near the extractors/exhaust???

Any clue? I still got 3000kms before my next service schedule.

Man, in my experience get it to the dealer straight away and let them hear it for themselves.
Have you had any engine mods..?? If so, i'd probably just head towards the best performace shop around you as warranty will most probably be off the table.

Mine does something similar. I was told it was the air con compressor first engaging. I find I only hear it every 4 or 5 times I start the car with the AC on.

I also read somone having a similar noise and it was disgnosed as the ABS self check on start up - I believe that was a Ford feature/fault.

my old ute did it once last year, about a week after a service....
had a good look under the bonnet to find the ass-clown apprentice mechanic had left a spanner in the engine bay.

Is your car stock or got aftermarket exhaust?
