LS1 Chatbox

Hey there admins. Can we please request the chatbox be reversed so the latest message appears at the top as it once did. Also a lot of people using IE have found it hard to get any history in the chatbox without going to the archive messages to see what has been typed. I don't get it on Firefox. Could be something.. Oh and I believe the chatbox timeout has reverted back to like 1 min or something.. Gotta keep refreshing it all the time to keep it active.. Not sure the reason behind having to hit refresh to get it working in the first place..

Anyway I can see some real nice updates to the site... Will be a rippa when it's all done.. I can appreciate there's a ton of work in updating it.

I agree Nidz, the delay for refresh definately needs adjusting. And yeah is seems to work better in Firefox.

+1 for putting back up the other way, but yeah it might not be any easy fix.

Some good points there Nidz. It gets bloody frustrating having to keep hitting the refresh button, and the screen doesn't automatically scroll to keep up with the posts. Anything that can be done would be much appreciated mods. :goodjob:

Since the update I have to use firefox too many problems with IE. Maybe you could explain why this is happening and will it be fixed

If I want to see whats been posted I have to look in the archives. No point using the chatbox until its fixed for me.

Sidey is aware of the chatbox issues and it is LOW down on the list of things to be fixed..

Pretty sure you can all put up with it at least it is still there..

But these options are just fixed with a couple of clicks in the admin control panel
That and the "Entrez votre chat" - a very simple fix - like 2 minutes max!
And I am not saying this in an uneducated manner - i know this for a fact with mgc chatbox 2.4.2

The site is getting better now it is running a new VB version, but still plenty of bugs to be ironed out
The switch to VB4 (which is very close!) will be very difficult if left too long - is there any kind of procedures/policies set for upgrades etc for the forum from a management perspective?



All in all though, I say good work so far Sidewinder - I know playing around with vBulletin can be annoying!

No one said it was not a simple fix - I said it was LOW down on the list of things. I am sure Sidey will get around to it when he gets around to it. For now I am sure people can put up with the little niggly annoying things until it is looked into.

As Kel said, low on the priorities, I have to get the sponsor banner interfaces working properly first now that we're upgraded and operational all be it a little finessing still needed.

As for the Upgrade to V4 this is all preparation for that, I'm moving to all product based mods and no manual template hacks of the standard templates. This will provide a much smother transition to V4 and future versions ..

The forums went from 3.6.8 to version 3.8.4PL1 in one hit, as a result I have removed all old products and am slowly re-adding them and the other manual hacks have to be replaced with product based mods or dumped completely. It does take quite a while and I am also very busy with my actual real life job of getting a new company up and running etc.. this is why there had not been any upgrade for a long time.. that coupled with issues with the banner software upgrades has meant I have had to rebuild the entire banner sponsor inventory from scratch .. which is what I am doing now .. :confused::1peek:

I've been running and hacking this forum and software for well over 8 years now so I do know what I am doing, however I have a bug/feature list that is quite long and I have prioritised it along with my actual non-cyber(i.e. REAL) life responsibilities. Relax and just enjoy the fact that there was bugger all actual down time with a live site upgrade, no mean feat let me tell you .. :p
