I am not sure whether this question is best answered by the Design or Engineering team but probably the design team as I assume they would have an input into the advertising side.
HSV ran a teaser campaign before the release of the E2 series. My local Holden / HSV dealer, Motorama Holden in Springwood, Brisbane held an official release last Friday night. The event was very well planned and put together. There was an outdoor podium with 2 wide screen TV’s which went through the HSV adverts for the E2.
There were also speeches by Mal Meninga, the head of HSV QLD, the GM of Motorama, Dave Reynolds from Bundaberg Red racing and a representative from Walkinshaw Performance QLD. I think there may have also been a head honcho from Holden QLD but not sure. My apologies if I missed anyone but in any event, the stars of the show were the E2’s
Finger food and drinks were supplied and the event culminated with one of each new E2 model driving through a professional lighting ‘runway’ to a separated hard stand. Guests were then invited to look through each model and place bookings for upcoming test drives plus ask questions.
I thought this was a great way to release the E2 officially and I remember this was quite common practice many, many years ago. This is the first time I have seen such a function held for a new model in a very long time and my question to HSV is should we look at this being the standard way a new HSV is released i.e. is this the new practice by HSV or is it something the individual dealer did off their own bat. Either way I think it was a great event and the invitations were not only to current HSV owners as I along with at least one other person I knew who was there own VE SS Commodores.
I also heard some general comments from the crowd re the design of the E2 and how it looks a lot better in the ‘flesh’ than in the pictures which has also been stated on this forum by HSV.
If this evening was an HSV initiative then congratulations but if on the other hand it was wholly at the Initiative of Motorama Holden then I think HSV may learn something from their foresight.
Cheers
