LS1 into a VK

hey guys i currently smashed my pride and joy my VZ ss now im thinking of putting the motor and box into my vk, what do you guys think of this, and what do you think will be needed to do this transplant im also gunna put the seats and dash out of the vz into the vk any advise would be helpful.

Sux that you smashed the vz! No ins? The vk would definitely benefit from the transplant, I dont know who but surely there would be a kit developed for the job. Goodluck with it! and post pics!

I'm just getting everthing ready to do this myself into a track only VK. The advise I've been given thus far:-

1. You need to buy a kit to change the starter motor over to the passanger side. Mal Wood in Qld sells them for around $800.00
2. a cross new member is needed for the gearbox. Again speak to Mal
3. You can buy engine mounts for the conversion, however a few blokes I've spoken to claim it's easier to change the standard 308 ones. I'm yet to get to this stage so haven't tried any ajustment yet.
4.New headers/extractars are required.
5. Stanard sump JUST fits into the K frame
6. If using a T56, the shifter position will need an adjustment. Again this what I've been told, we are purchasing a TKO box new with the shifter in the correct spot.
7. Tail shaft will need adjusting
8. Consider your diff. The standard 10 bolt will not stand the extra grunt long term. We are running a VL turbo diff.

my mate has a vk with a ls1 in it and its crazy to drive.just be carefull off few off the shelf parts that people promise to fit and DONT.speak to other that have done it and parts they have used and you wont have any problems

With all due respect to the LS forum, Street Commodores has the best write up on VB/VC/VH/VK LS conversions. Search for the "road warrior". (there are two, you will know which one is the correct one, I cant recall the different spellings. :).
