I am about to have a service at a different HSV service center. The new one use Castrol full synthetic. Does it make any difference changing from Mobile one. 23000klm onj the clock.

Shouldnt make to much difference as a fully synthetic oil is a good thing. Check the ratings of the oils that might differ.

There are heaps of threads relating to engine oil.

I have spent alot of money trying different oils in my car. In the end the mobil 1 5w30 has ben the best for both smoothness, quiet engine, cooler engine temp and fuel economy. However, I have been told not all engines like the same oil.

IMO, if the mobil1 has been working well for you I would personally stick with it. Just find a Mobil distributor and the cost of the Mobil 1 5w30 will be around $75 or cheaper per 5ltr. It is what HSV recommend also, not that you have to listen to that, just thought I'd mention it.

Cheers

I though that all dealers would use the same but according to zupps HSV, they went awqay from Mobil one as Castrol is better. I think that they got a better deal with Castrol.

Yes, got a better bulk buying deal. My local HSV dealer did the same thing but kept the supply of mobil1 for HSV,s and customers that prefer to use it.

I have always used Mobil 1 and have always liked the results but having heard extremely good things from Castrol Edge i am tempted to give it a go.
Both are fully synthetic which is better for your engine in the long run anyway.

If you really want to use the mobil oil buy a couple of bottles before you take it for a service and tell them to put it in the engine.

Probably would have been cheaper to take my own oil with me. They charged me $108.00 for the oil.
