My Bike 2000 Aprillia rs250 I bought this bike brand new with every intention to race it in the production series. heres a few pics of it and me in action the colour scheme changed a few times over the years.
250 proddie racing was very competative and taught great bike craft.

Still new to the bikes (was a late starter).

Current (and only) ride is an 08 Yamaha WR250F enduro bike.

Dream bike is something old school, possibly a Triumph Bonneville.

Plenty of fantastic forestry trails about 5 minutes ride from where I live in Canberra.

This is it before I took it home.

The Hyabussas can be flash tuned somewhat like the LS1's can be so the Power Commander isn't necessary , but i guess the trick is finding someone to do it .

Hi lads.

Got my first bike a few weeks back. It's a 2001 WR 400.
Previous owner had some work done to it. Jetted carby, cam timing and Barrett pipe etc. I've never ridden a standard one but other people who have ridden before have mentioned it goes pretty well. They have also mentioned that it probably isn't the most learner friendly bike but one might aswell start big. :D
Future plans for it is to get it tidied up and keep it as reliable as possible.

Heres a pic of it when i got it. Please excuse the mess in the background!

My other pride and joy I purchased neew in 2007 is a BMW K1200S. Absolutely a thrill to ride. I have put an Akropovic exhaust and K and N filters on her which greatly improved the KWS. Black in colour and now has 30,000 kms on the clock due to some long distance trips. Along with the Calais, the bike is a keeper.

Hey guys this is my YZ250F 2008 with alot of bits and pieces done to it that i used to race in pro lites and Moto x, stadium x etc untill i had an accident and broke my back and am now a paraplegic from chest down.

http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/ajmanvell82/100_1582.jpg

I am now in the making of a KFX450R quad to set up for me and have only had a couple little rides around to see what need to do and where everything is going to sit. It has a FMF full titanium system and steering dampner, power commander EFI controller and i have made a high density foam seat add on to hold me in and a special electronic solonoid shifter that also breaks the ignition at time of shifts so can flat shift without clutch. Just got some bigger boots as i couldn't push my feet in old ones and to allow room for swelling in my feet so now we can start making up some foot plates and velcro straps to help hold me in right position and away we go!! Felt great get back on a bike!!

This is my current "work in progress". Sold off the original fairings, lights, bars etc to fund the transformation. Just trying to decide on a new rear end for it, tossing up between R1/R6 or an early GSXR1000 unit.

Needs a tune then it will be off to get registered and I will be back on 2 wheels after a 7 year layoff. Can't wait!

My Honda VTR1000 SP1. Twin Yoshi RS3's, Powercommander 3 USB, K&N filters. I like in-line 4 bikes and as ridiculously fun as they are being fast wheelie machines, I'm now a little older/wiser/have hair growing in weirder places and you don't get that same feeling on an in-line as having a fat noisy twin between your legs :D

Nice bike mate, i ride a RC8 also, they def stand out a far bit when you go out for a ride :)
How you find the QD exhaust? i just fitted the JCE system with a piperX filter, just need some $'s for a PC and tune.
But just about to order the 16T front and a cover to keep the dust off.
You have any problems with oil?

Hey mate,

The QD exhaust is nice. It's fairly loud when all the cats and baffles are removed. It's around the 110-115dB mark at it's loudest (if i remember correctly).
Fitting it was a bit of a bitch... but it's much nicer than the stock exhaust (ways about 10kg less too). That crackle and pop as you go down the gears is unbeatable :) I need to get a PC3 or something and get it tuned too, i think that will make the exhaust truly shine.

I have put in the pipercross as well, seems to be doing a great job so far.

I haven't had any issues with oil, thankfully. I must have gotten a good one from what I have read on ktmforum.co.uk, seems alot of people have had issues. Apparently it's all fixable under the warranty though (?)

Yeh the ktmforum.co.uk helped me find where my oil was coming from, all got fixed under warranty through KTM, and been great ever since.
Aprat from that, cannot fault them IMO coolest superbike on the road :)

lol - yes i do need one.

I like the KTM one, but @ $550 it's a bit rich.

Have seen some people have bad experiences with indicators flashing at wrong speeds and what not, so am still trying to decide what's going to be best.

That is the comp werkes fender eliminator kit fitted to my pearl white daytona 675 in the picture above. It is the best I have seen as it totally cleans up the rear of the bike and comes with the turn signals you can see mounted on the exhaust heatshield. No problem with flashing speeds etc. The only thing is I doubt it's legal to have the number plate mounted where it is (in front of the back wheel) but hardly any coppers know what they're looking at anyway and it looks 10 x better.

I'm sure they would make one for the KTM. From memory I paid $185 delivered to my door from the US. The exchange rate is much better now so it's probably a very good time to grab one. Try www.sportbiketrackgear.com

Love the RC8. Pity to hear KTM are still having problems with the LC8 motor.

I had an 05 950Adv and it was an awesome bike, only let down by reliability issues.

Having a crap KTM dealer didn't help.

Yeh there a great bike, well KTM in general in my IMO my girlfriend rides a 200 EXC and thats a great bit of gear.
Brought the RC8 into work today to cheer me up for the weekend :), once the oil problem was fixed, very happy with bike and the dealer in Penrith were very good with me, but like you said not all dealers are good (that goes with any car/bike brand etc) you get good and bad in all

For sure. The dealer I bought my 640 motard from where great. I got a better deal on trading that for the 950 at a closer dealer.

Once he had my money though, it went downhill. Only good thing is, he is no longer a KTM dealer:rofl:

Please excuse the mess in the background!

also ordered so new callipers for her as well. cleaned them up just need to get some new pads and fit them up now. GSXR1000 K1 6 piston calipers. a nice upgrade from the factory 4 piston calipers so im told.

My current HD, is a CVO (Screaming Eagle) FatBob, 110 cube of fun.

2005 Fatboy-sort of. About the only part of the bike not altered from stock is the dash panel, and front axle. Has an intercooled Procharger, SE 211 cams, V & H 2-2 pipes, 95 cube kit, flowed heads, Thundermax ECU, 240 rear end, 27 litre tank, PM Marquee wheels, PM Contour forward controls, 1.5" Burleigh mid weston bars, raked frame, 4" over forks & chrome everything, but stock paint scheme (black cherry with pearl black). Probably 140RWHP, 180 nm torque. Rode it to Perth last Xmas, and ride to the Supers at Phillip Island every year, from Wollongong, so it's much more than a bar hopper. Most expensive toy I've ever owned. I can't even ride it to work-would you leave a $70,000 bike parked next to the Unanderra Hotel all day? I think I've created a monster. I love it.
Cheers, Mike

2009 BMW K1300S with full Akropovic exhaust, ESAII, ABC, Trac control, quickshifter, tinted screen and c/f guards/tank protector. Have owned it since last september when I sold all my Suzuki's to go down to one bike for a while.

So far its been a great bike, fast, comfy, does everything well and great service from Auto Classic BMW.

Yeah mate, know Scotty White quite well! He's racing his street bike this year and ran a 10.06 the other night

I'm having Leith Darrach build my engine (he's a Lecturer at the University here and can build 1 engine every 6mths where the customer only pays for the parts, not labour). We're currently getting a list together for the build and looking for the right turbo as we want to reach the 400rwhp mark for the strip. Depends how she rides, she may end up a dedictated strip bike but would like 2 tunes as the "twisties" interest me more

Once we start the build I'll start a thread in here to kep everyone updated

29 years of riding sports bikes of various origins, I thought I'd try a Harley XR1200, fatherhood does strange things to you.
Well, the Harley experiment failed after 6 months and has been replaced by a pristine, 1800km red Ducati 848, one of the nicest bikes I've ever ridden and THE nicest to look at :)

Hey Slugg check this link out:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ninja_ZX-12R

If this Wiki is to be believed, In the second paragraph it states that it makes 178hp standard so with that in mind the guy you quoted said above (in bold) would probably include a Power Commander and air filter and maybe velocity stacks as well so 185hp or more is totally believable.

+1 easy....as much as I H A T E Kawasaki's, esp the 12 it has such a heavy throttle! But anything made by Kawasaka Heavy Shipping is going to be a boat.... :burnout: *jokes*

My 05 GSXR had 194.5BHP at PTR in VIC, mind you there's a yoshi cam, head work, PCIII and...."Much more" to quote that other bloke.....pretty disapointed when the 10/11 models are coming out with 160-170 stock read *restricted* form. The Beemers are putting down 200ponies (and very healthy ones at that) so it's all a bit hard to see where it will stop but more importantly why these things should be legal....really I'm all for it but 200bhp on the road = waste of time.

One of the most FUN bikes I've ridden through the 25-40km/hr twisties was....wait for it.....

A lowly RS125.....! Probably making all of 40kw if that and uphills forget it but tight stuff OMG just WOFT everywhere and no brakes....it's fun marching up the inside of the R1 owner who approached the corner at 200kph and had to hard brake > right as a little 125cc 2 smoker was wide open, 180.......the whole way. You never go faster or slower just 1 speed with a billion gear changes.... much fun me likey.

In saying that my last monster GSXR1000 was ALOT of fun - racing. Rode it on the road once and it wanted to kill me, way too stiff suspension set for fast track riding + slicks...on road rubber and a super short pull throttle is no fun whatsoever.

Sorry how did I end up typing all that confirming stuff for a kwaka I shoulda said....*edit*

LOL I think you misunderstand why I say it > the fact it's long winded is because I'm also a passionate enthusiast as you put it, and have many a time acknowledged my lack of well....knowledge in the car arena.

In many of my long winded posts I have also mentioned this so let me keep them shorter. Something like this suit you better ? :

+1 agree with above. Every single bike lining up in any stock category in any country in the world (shit I can't even keep this short lol) with simple mods, be it Fairyblades, Arrggh1s, Gixxers and the like will easily make the sort of power VESS mentions.

Aside from that, I did say the bike had the basic mods VESS referred to and 'much more' so as not to brag about MY 10K Ohlins suspension as you have but hey I really don't wanna go there. Who am I? Well I'm passionate about anything with wheels and an engine. Planes almost qualify but then if cars and bikes are expensive I shudder at the thought of going that route.

I guess my refernce to 'my fully sik cornering skillz' (did I really say that? Really now In all my posts???) I was just trying to give the impression of why a smaller bike, quite often on the road, is a better choice than the biggest baddest sports bike around would you not agree?

If I really wanted to brag, well really I'm a nobody. I have been a founding member of one of Aus's bigger stunt riding teams, hoping it might help me launch a racing career, which it didn't BTW so back to working hard to pay for everything so I hit up a few races here but trying to race bikes in Aus is extremely difficult. As you've eluded, you've also raced OS, The stoner Family (GO CASEY :) didn't bother racing here instead pretty well skipping straight to Europe. Whilst being not quite double Casey's age, the same weight and about 1/10th the talent it doesn't equal the best equation....but seriously you wanna put these claims to me and then go onto say you've trained with the best, been there done that would spank the likes of you young whipper snapper.....come on....the way I look at it is this, if along the way I can help, learn, promote business's who've been extremely generous then I see now harm, but I am sorry I seem to have struck a chord and I'd like to dispell any myths here and now.

Look, I'm really not bragging. Just passionate. Ask a few of the LS1 members about our offline conversations about music. Where I lack knowledge, LS1 has helped so if there's something I feel I might have a bit of input on, in a thread, or assisting someone offline, well I apologse for going over the top with it.

Accepted? :)

Haha mate we are all enthusiasts in the end, I was just getting sick of the constant IMO bragging. All good but mate I just had to say it, you sound like a very nice bloke I guess you just came off the wrong way, well to me anyway. No my suspension was P.C should give you a hint of where I'm coming from...sounds like you've contributed quiet a bit to the Aus scene well done should be very proud! And yer you are passionate, I'd say I'm probably getting ahead of myself probably being a dick, and am guilty of the same ramblings to my non moto friends haha the amount of times ive been told to STFU well
let's say quiet a bit LOL

Anyway good stuff mate I apologies too :love2:

Hi mate, all good. Honestly not bragging, you're entitled to your opinion of course but I think if we ever met we'd probably get along like a house on fire.
I take extreme exception at the 'constant bragging' comment though and strongly disagree.

My problem has and always will be, I type super fast so tend to type as though I was there in person chatting to someone. I tend to ramble on a bit and then when I reply to your initial post and write that much most ppl tend to think I'm 'ranting' or having a go, of course I just need to find a way to use less words to say the same thing and obviously in a way that doesn't get ppl off side!

It's a 'What do you ride thread' and if you feel this way then the few posts I do have in this thread may well be pissing everyone else off as well so this will be my last addition to this one considering I have nothing to add.

cheers

Hi guys,

Here is my 2008 Kawasaki ZX-10R. Its the Rapid Bikes magazine project bike which some of you may have seen.

Mods are the following:

Bazzaz computer with traction control and quickshifter
KRT head gasket to raise comp
Racefit Growler exhaust
Powerbronze headlight protectors
Powerbronze windscreen
Powerbronze carbon fibre side covers
Powerbronze fender eliminator with LED diamond blinkers
RadGuard
Oggy knobs
DP brake pads
Rearsets
Pickup stand knobs
Preload adjusters
Billet master cylinder cap

I have had it for about 6 months now and absolutely love it.

What's the Traction Control like? Must be a surreal feeling...Is it adjustable for conditions (rain, dry etc.)?

I have a few pics of me stuntin at www.cunningstunts.com (I am the one they call J-rad under 'TEAM' hahahaha which is simply my name jarrad shortened.) I also have a sub domain for my racing which takes priority although I haven't updated it for sometime due to change in classes....before anyone starts on me, the vid footage is sh1t, the footage is from EC in 2009 for my very first ever race LOL so I've had my fair share of comments around me racing in the classes I have been. Been doing pretty good, surprised myself so much on a bike I had no right to be racing that I've taken a step back to race in the stock class where outright $$ plays less of a part in winning....

www.racing.cunningstunts.com

As passionate as my posts have been I guess my main point is, esp for road riding, a 40Kw RS125 (or however little power they make) can be as much fun if not more than the firebreathing 180BHP+ litre bike. . . .in saying that I know which one I'd rather run around Philip Island > same can be said for Wackyfield......and since I don't road ride anymore my opinion can be taken as just that.....

Anyhow, somewhere above I promised not to brag so showing pics and footage of how crap I am should solve that!

I have a '84 GPz900 A1. Quite old but had it for over two decades. My wife has an '07 ZX6R which is a fun toy. We also have a '90 ZZR600 in the South Island and will soon have a '91 ZZR1100 down there also. We do have a bit of a Kawasaki bent but they have been good to us.

I just put a deposit on a Ducati 1199 Panigale S a few weeks ago. Anyone want to buy a 2008 CBR1000RR Fireblade? It is red and silver and only has 6,300 km on the clock. It has Yoshi exhaust and Power Commander V, tinted screen, anodised levers and other bits and pieces. Looking for around $12 500 for it.

Hi lee,

thanks for the comments, the diablo supercourser was good but a little on the slippery side under power,i,m now running the dunlop GP racer control tyres and they are much grippier,i feel alot more confident on the dunlop.

My HK monaro i,ve owned for 27 years now,was one of my first cars, its currently not being used as my kids suck ever cent out of me,it has a methonal 350 4 speed 9 inch with ladder bars,is in mint condition still, one day i hope to play again.

I think they are 160hp at the engine, mine with the full termi 70mm exhaust and ecu made at the tyre 152hp,without fan assistance.

I,M guessing being a R,that the engine size is 1198 i,m not 100% sure but i think thats what they did to the R.

Lived in Melbourne for 8 years and got completely addicted to track days at Phillip Island. I worked out that I did about 3000 laps over that period, most of them on a 2003 Aprilia Mille R - going over Lukey Heights in this pic...

Back in the Shakey Isles now, and frankly no track here can hold a candle to the Island, so have moved back onto more road riding with a BMW K1200R.

I might be a bit different again. Being a young bloke, not many of us are into the classics.
Although I have my own modern bikes, I'm definitely one for classics as well

Working as a bike mechanic, I couldn't ask for a better job watching Exotic Ducati's, 1920's Brough Superiors, and basically anything else you can think of roll through the shop.

Just curious to see what bikes other people on the forum have whether it be road, dirt, enduro, hill climber, etc

That is a blast from the past. Nice ride! I used to run along side one of these in 1985 on my 85 GPZ70R from Gold Coast to Brisbane every day before the M1 was even thought about. Had a GS1000S before that and the forst road bike I had was a Suzuki GT500 Triple with custom chambers that still keep the RG's honest. Always a place in my heart for a big bangin Suzuki 2 stoke!

Easiest way to decide if you want a bigger bike, ride a bigger bike. If you fall in love with riding all over again, you need a bigger bike! I had a CBR250R and was debating whether to buy a bigger bike, so a mate was nice enough to say 'Here, lets swap bikes for a while'. So I carefully hopped on his ZX9R, rolled on the throttle gently (which felt bloody quick after the 250!) and within a week I had bought a 'bumble bee' GSXR600.

600 is a good size. No where near the lazy power of a litre bike. But drop a couple of gears and they do fine. You have to consciously want to give them shit for them to bite you generally

that's what i was thinking. im only 5'9 and 75kg.. i think a 600 would be plenty enough power/nimble enough for me :D
i think a litre bike would weigh too much hahaha

You do realise the litre sports bikes only weigh a handful of kilos more than 600s... My old Gixxer 1000 K4 (168kg) was only 6kg heavier than the 750 (162kg) which was only 2kg heavier than the 600 (160kg).

I sold my CBR600F over Xmas. Now eagerly awaiting the delivery of my 2015 BMW S1000RR. I've optioned all the electronics packages and forged wheels.

Looks like this but mine with DDC will have Gold Forks.

Hi All,

I'm more of a dirt type of guy, but here's a pic of my favorite bike. It's a KTM 690 R with a Rally conversion kit. I was using it to train for Dakar but injury set me back a little, so I'm targeting 2017 now. Might come over the Aus to do the Australian Safari Rally next year.

Sorry about the link, I can't post pics yet.

Got my new ride the other day. 2015 BMW S1000RR. Makes 199HP has every single bit of electronic rider aid you can think of; and its actually quite comfortable while at the same time being absolutely mental through the hills. The new quick shifter is incredible too. You only have to use the clutch for moving off. It blips on downshifts for you. Best feature by far; well that and cruise control. The dynamic suspension is excellent too. Its like MRC.. But it actually works.

This intake is massive. Sure as hell there are HP gains at speed with this thing.

The Display is awesome, shows how much traction control has been invoked, the rate of deceleration; and lean angles.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks mate, I love it and frankly I couldn't give two sh1ts about modifying another car. So much money pissed down the drain to get no where near the performance of this thing

Just figured out what your avatar is.
All the new sports bikes are just phenomenal, and the BMW is a step above the others.
200hp from a one liter NA engine that is totally reliable and perfectly ridable is pretty amazing

Congrats on the new bike
Now come out to morgan park for a trackday.

this section still alive?!

I jsut got a new bike recently. 2006 Yamaha FZ1. slip on pipe, and dropped 2T on the front sprocket and +4T on the rear. Would love a super sport like the BMW but i dont think i could ever get used to the riding position.

Nice toy Macca,

They're mental those BMW super sport 1000's, what a weapon. They're easily the best looking of the lot as well except like most BMW motorbikes, they have to do something gumby with the headlights. The new model you've got looks a lot more subtle than the previous one though looking at the photo of them side by side.

I bet you have a ball on that thing, enjoy yourself and stay alert and safe, they can get away from you very quickly and most drivers are cretins who aren't looking for you. The track is the perfect place to really have fun on a bike safely, I know from experience it can easily go wrong, but at least there's run off area, everyone's heading in the same direction and there's medical straight away.

Best wishes,
Jason

This pic is a little out of date now, have done a few things not pictured. new chain/sprockets and sprocket nuts. New combo of -1/+1, much nicer to ride. Added power commander and some other little things. Seen a very nice MV Agusta Brutale Dragster RR demo model for sale, very tempted to trade in......
