Hey Guys, the coppers decided to give me a yellow sticker on the weekend.
for having different profile tyres on the front than the back, 245/30/R20 on the back and 245/35/R20 on the front.
Anyway, my mechanic said that I should be fine, so I took it to the pits today and I got rejected because it was too LOW and TOO Loud.
Here’s my setup (Please excuse the brief detail):
VZ Maloo:
• Pacemaker Extractors
• High Flow Cats
• Twin 2.5” System
• Aftermarket Mufflers (rear Mufflers removed)
• King Springs SL
• Pedders Sports Riders
• 20” Rims (obviously)
So what I want to know is: What would be the cheapest way to get it over the pits? I don’t really have time to do the work myself (IE: changing springs) Do you think a suspension store would install and lend me a set if I left a deposit?
Thanks fellas

One of the bolkes at work was defected for being too low , fibreglass bonnet , and dark tint .
He had no exhaust mods , stock wheels and the only engine mod to speak of was a catch can .
He had the stock bonnet and springs put back on and removed the tint .

I took off a little too quick, the cops saw me from a distance and didn't have proof. I guess they were a bit pissed off, their exact words:
"if you act like a clown, then we are going to treat you like a clown"
I mean I wasn't going that quick, maybe 70km/h in a 60 zone max..

a friendly forum member might lend u spare Fe2 springs and a stock exhaust. Is your car really too low? or does it scrape on the headers?
I have some 19s you could borrow but they are going monday.

a thin metal plate same size as exhaust gasket with holes drilled in it would quieten the exhaust down as a temporary fix if its too loud? im sure an exhaust shop could knock you one up and would only take 5 minutes to put it in

I don't understand your thinking, now let me see you want to just make the car pass then put it all back.
Wouldn't this be a silly move, once your car in recorded as being to low, noisy exhaust and wrong profile tyres you would be looking for trouble putting it all back.
I are aware that the police and DMR have computer access to any fine/records, attached to your licence/vehicle and any notices served on your vehicle as in dates and re-inspection date.
In other words if they happen to pull you over again and find that you have had a vehicle inspection and you have to rectify the vehicle to make it pass and now they again see you have it lowered again, noisy exhaust or tyre profile changes you might be facing a stiffer penalty the second time.
There are laws governing this I would check into them before I did anything silly.

I'm pretty sure you don't get into more trouble the next time you get a yellow sticker. You can just go ring around the rozey all day long, cop a fine+sticker, put stock parts on, pass... then put all your 'illegal' shit back on. Then have it all done again to you. Sure, it'll show on their computer that you have been defected before so you might be pulled over more 'randomly' but the fines should be the exact same.

I guess you will have to look around for stock parts unless you kept all your original one's.

Ummmmmmm! how sure you about this?
I young guy who is a mate of my sons had his VS SS yellowed stickered for excess noise (exhaust) and to low.
He had the standard springs put back in and he put a large muffle at the rear that quietened it down took it back for inspection and it passed "just" .
He then refitted the super low coils etc, and took the muffler off the rear and he was pulled up about 6 to 7 weeks after the first yellow sticker and when the cops did a vehicle/licence check up come the inspection notice and the find that was attached.
The cop asked him if the vehicle had been lowered sense the inspection the guy had to say yes so the cop then said he had to submit the car for inspection on Monday before 12:00 noon (he was pulled up Sunday night at around 7:00pm)
To cut a long story short he did this and failed the inspection not only that they did a complete safety inspection of his vehicle and found several other items including emissions, noise, rim size, tint, seats, engine modifications, oil, leaks, rust and other I carn't remember the then told him he could not drive his vehicle until it was all rectified and he had 21 day to re summit it.
Anyway he ended up de-registering the vehicle due to the cost to repair it and it sits in the back of his parents house.
The silly young bugger didn't notify the police/DMR of this and issued a summons to appear to court over it, so after his solicitor explained the happening the was let go with just cost of court expense and the legal cost.:bawl:

I agree, I thought you could do this providing the tyres on the same axle are the same size and tread - you see people with different brands and tread patterns all over the shop.

Treat patten should be similar front to rear and side to side. That is legally but if people do it then that is up to them
Diameters should be less than 3% difference front to back. Having 30 series on the back and 35 series on the front and with tyres the same width then that is over 3%.
I am surprised your ABS light was not on but if not then there is a change the ABS will not work effectively. Generally the ABS light will come on when there is a rolling difference with too much difference from front to rear.
Then there is the insurance issues running incorrect tyres front to rear.
If it was a tyre shop that put those 20s on and that combination of tyres then go back to them and get stuck into them, advise the police the tyre shop supplied and installed the tyres.
There is a reason for everything.

Still don't see the crime ???

they must have it in for you ,i got pulled over last week ,first time in years ,got me for my 50%tint on my windscreen, let me off my 5%on the side and rear windows, looked at my wheels 22,9 and 10 245 front and 295 rear ,i know the 22 tyres arnt load rated [illegal],but after some general conversation i got off with a warning [told to remove my windscreen tint].
if i were you id make it legal and drive it for 6 months and see if you get anymore attention before you return it to how you like it:spew:

I used to have 245/35 on the back but they were rubbing on the guards, the tyre shop told me to get 245/30
