The wear indicators on my current Marangoni Mythos (245X40X18) have started to hit the top of the tread so its new tyre time......
While Ive got no complaints with the Marangonis, they've been great and after getting 30,000+ ks out of them, I'd use them again for sure....
I've been offered Yokohama "Advan's" which I've never heard of for $250 ea. fitted and balanced....for a Yokohama tyre, they sound almost "too cheap" if you know what I mean...
Has anybody else used these? what are your thoughts?....

There a really good tyre, i paid 600+ per tyre for 19 inch so 250 is dirt cheap, if there 19's i'll take 4.
Cheers
P.S There is tyre thread on here that discuss all tyoes of tyres.

The Yokohama Advan Sport was oem HSV fitment at one stage and are a great tyre. I had them on the ex VZII Maloo rims I purchased and they handle exceptionally well in the wet and dry and have good cornering / braking capacity.
The cheapest that I've been quoted is about $395 / tyre (19"), so you're either buying them from someone who doesn't know what they're saying, or there is steam coming off them.
EDIT - I note they are 18" - still sound very cheap, so if they are from a reputable shop, buy them.
cheers

I didn't know you could get them so cheap. The Advan Sport is also the OEM tyre for some Mercedes AMG's. They are nice and sticky and I have them on my C63 at more than $700 a corner. They are a 30 and 25 profile on 20 inch rims which does make them a little bit noisy on some road surfaces.

After checking the Yokohama website, there appears to be a couple of different models in Advan's.....
Will check details on the tyre on Mon. and get back to you....
Thanks for the info guys....:)

I have had the V103 version fitted for over a year now to the Monaro. Awesome tyre, but they did cost me $385 each in 18 inch then. This was the version of Advan HSV fitted, as mentioned above. You need to confirm which version of Advan you have priced, and make sure they are not out of date rejects going "on the cheap". Tyres harden with age, so you wont get the full Advan experience if aged.

99% of my cars have always ran Yokohama Advan's, there a top bit of gear.
i just got a few weeks ago Advan AD08 Nevora, the grip they give is un-real
if you can get any of the Advan range for that price, go for it

Ok, heres the guff....
On the sidewall.....ADVAN A13A 245/40R18 93W
then.....F1250L...then.....FDJX.....date of manufacture 05/07
Can any-one tell me which No. tells you the load rating?
They recommend these ones for Jap imports as well but Im concerned that if we fit them to a Falcon/Commodore size car....they'll get ripped to bits you know.....
Thanks guys...:)

93W is the load rating.
Check your tyre placard to check what your car needs.
Tyres seem a bit old (05/07)
I need some new tyres on my car soon.
When I was checking around a month or so back I was quoted $290 for the Bridgstones RE050A ( in 245/45/18 ).
Bridgstone dropped all there prices a few months back.

Im really happy for you......but I NEVER do burnouts in my car....
If these have a load rating of 93W (the current tyres Ive got are 97Y)
Is there a chart somewhere so I can decipher all this?

You go by what ever the tyre placard states which is stuck maybe inside on the drivers door.( Not sure on Fords)
You need what ever is on the tyre placard that is the lowest you can go.Higher is not a problem.
Don't get stuck with old tyres they can go off if too old.
Sounds like old stock these tyres you are looking to buy.

Have a look at this (http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/passenger/care/age.aspx) link. It explains a lot about aged tyres and apparent myths.
You might be OK with the discounted tyres, just check when they were made.
