Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has fitted the stealth cold air system for their VZ SS or similar that is available on ebay at the moment for $269.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/COLD-AIR-INTAKE-KIT-VZ-V8-LS1-GENIII-"STEALTH"-NEW_W0QQitemZ170382588101QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ2009 0914?IMSfp=TL090

Any comments regarding this would be appreciated. At the moment I just have a Lukey high performance panel filter in the normal airbox. Was thinking about the 2 hole mod with monaro shroud, but this looks better.

Or would anyone have a box that is modified with monaro shroud. I would be interested in buying.

Thanks

Does anyone have a 2 hole modded box, that they tried before using an OTR. I have read a little about the GMM Ramjet, and I think i will wait for that instead of one of the current OTRS. Thought the 2 hole mod, or cheaper pod type, would be okay in the interim.

Definalty go the OTR but the 2 hole mod seems to be a good budget mod!!

I am concerned about possible legalities of OTR's, and implications on insurance if i have an accident whilst one is installed. I was very interested in the DUSpeed one that OZ Track market and a mail order tune from them. But still little concerned over the legalities of it all.

by an exec then mate, or leave it stock. its the price/risk you pay for modifications and performance. RAMJET can keep maf meter as far as i know so that would get it legal to some extent. i guess.

You are in QLD i see, so you should be right. I have a mate that is a QT inspector (one of the ones who goes out west and pulls over trucks). I asked him about the legalities of OTR's and running a MAFless tune. He told me as long as the car still meets emmissions, then it is legal. So going by that, if you can get a tuner to tune your car so it still meets the emmissions standards for that car, then they are legal.

Took the SS for a spin this arvo, stock. Mate has an 03 SV8 auto with pacemaker extractors, and it had more go than my manual 05 VZ SS. What goes? Kinda embarrassing!!!

Some factors to consider are Pacemaker extractors along with OTR and tune will beat your VZ hands down.

I was told by Shannons that as long as you disclose to them what mods are on the car and that those mods did not contribute to the accident, then generally you should be alright. It makes sense that if you accidently nudge another car in a car park that your OTRCAI had nothing to do with it and they should honour the claim.

Having said that, it's not in writing and they are still very coy in committing 100% to saying you'll be OK. I do however expect that an insurance company that caters to motoring enthusiasts will be more accommodating of enthusiasts who modify then a large generic insurance company. Otherwise why would anyone bother with them if they get the reputation of screwing their client base on technicalities.

Anyone here ever have a claim knocked back because of a declared OTRCAI or modified exhaust???

Would you also recommend the OTR style for the VE SV6? Or would you go a conventional POD in a box style?
