Hi all
Thought I would post my results from getting the SSV Sportwagon tuned.
I couldn't go down the usual exhaust mods for fear of drone for my new 3 month old boy. So after talking to Mark at PowerTorque I settled on a set of HSV headers and CATs, SS Inductions Growler OTR and a Mafless tune.
All I can say is "wow". The car feels so alive now. No low down lag, and dead spots from the air intake. And the Growler OTR just "roars" its head off when you sink the right foot. I love it. The car is transformed.
OK - now the gains...
From a stock power run of 211.8rwkw and 525.8Nm
to
240.3rwkw and 587.7Nm
A nice gain of 28.5rwkw :smilesandbanana: Although this is only a number... the car just is brilliant now.
Also traveled home on M1 and was pulling 8.11 l/100klms at 110klm/hr
Thanks heaps to Mark at PT for the fantastic job and great advice with a great attitude and smile to boot.
Also to Big Kev at SS Inductions for the OTR Growler.
Will post up Dyno sheet if anyone wants to see it?

Sounds good chillicat. Better fuel economy, Better drivability, More power, Win, Win. Gotta do similar to mine when I'm home next.

My young fella's six months and loves my ls3 stroker with headers, 3 inch exhaust and hiflow cats, sends him straight to sleep. Go the exhaust.

Great result for what you had done to it:goodjob:.
I got 40rwkw increase in mine with extractors, exhaust cai and a tune. Sounds like you've got exactly what you were after

For comparison with your results
VE SS 50,000km
Extractors, highflow cats, hurricane 2 1/2 inch exhaust and SS inductions Growler and Y pipe , Maf tune by Mark a couple of weeks ago gave 241.4rwkw and 567mn so you are not missing much with the original exhaust from cat back.

Did Mark indicate if there was much of a restriction ( if any ) using the HSV Ext/cats.
Do you have a dyno readout by chance ?
If you don't want your car to loud just change the rear mufflers with some HM or Manta which will be quieter than a full catback system and give a nice sound when cruising.
Manta will be a bit deeper sound than HM mufflers !!

The sound has not changed too much from the HSV headers I think.... cant tell over the roar of the Growler OTR!!
Mark said that the HSV extractors are "not a bad design"... definately an improvement from stock.
Am also considering a change to the rear mufflers - hopefully this will lift the note just a little as you mention Highway.

Goota love the 6 litres and 6.2s....
240-250 rwkw in a blink of a eye....
So much harder to extract ponies out of the old LS1! LOL

Hi chillicatqld
This is what I would love to do with my 2 weeks old SSV AFM
Does you SSV have the AFM engine? If you have it, do you get the drone when it goes to 4syl mode? Can you also PM me with the amount of money it spent.

Hakon mine is a manual. It won't drone any if you just change the headers, it's when you start changing the exhaust pipes that you will start to introduce drone.
Im in QLD so you are better off talkin to a forum sponsor down there regarding costs of tune etc. The GRowler OTR units are about $699 retail.

for sure, the 6L and the 6.2L are fantastic and generate power more easily as you would expect with a bigger displacement
but the old ls1 isn't that hard, exhaust otr and tune will see 230+ rwkws on most. ive seen plenty of manuals pull 250 at the rears

Mate, don't concern yourself with the drone, get a 2.5" no dramas...
I did OTR, Mafless, Headers, cats and x force cat back, dynoed just shy of 260 rwkw with 600n.m
Do the cat back and hang on!

Its the numbers mate. We want BIG numbers.
If it drives shit, its just a bad tank of fuel. As long as those numbers are heading north, thats all that matters, and as long as you have the dyno sheet to prove it, even better.
Its good to see that with just a bit of ca$h that these cars can really be turned into some serious power machines.
