First car...aka 'nearly finished'

Hello all I thought I'd introduce my baby.

Bought her in March 2007 2 months before I got my p's. Installed a Alpine headunit, Type R 12 Inch & V12 Amp instantly. That was all I planned to do because I wanted to save for my dream car VY GTS coupe when I get off my p's but I've put in so much of my time into this now I'm kinda attached.


Engine Type: Alloytec 175

Engine Mods:
= Pod filter, C.A.I
= Mace engineering intake manifold insulator
= VCM Suite Edit tuned by CSV

Exhaust:
= Pacemaker extractors, Cats from LS1
= Twin 2.5" X-force exhaust

Gearbox:
= Stage 2 shift kit

Diff:
= Re-built LSD with 3.73 gears

Brakes:
= PBR performance pads

Suspension:
= Monroe GT shocks
= King spring SSL front, SSSL rear
= HSV Strut brace sprayed in gold

=Genuine Senator Sigs

Interior:
= Red & Black leather trimmed VE hsv front seats & red leather rear seat and door door trims. Originally had ebay type red leather seat covers (fit well though)
= All interior converted from beige to black (pillars, roof lining, sunglass holder and visors)

= Aircon vent surrounds
= Carbon Fibre dash surround out of VY GTS

This month I'm gonna be colour coding my door strips, side mirrors, adding chrome window surrounds off calais and a set of Dolce dc06 20's with redwalls.

Haha they're so much better than VZ seats its not funny. Drove to heathcote and when I got out it had been like i was just sitting on the couch. Usually would get back cramps on the old ones.

why not try and get the whole chrome package..

go for some Calais window surrounds.
Calais doorstrips.
and the Crhome handles.

and some VZ SS/calais headlights would look mint and finish off the front.
*along with a Calais Chrome bonnet strip

..its not a chev car. it hasnt even got a "chev" motor. Not even LS1s are Chevs really. GM maybe. but not chev.

don't really want to blow too much on appearance, sorta like the exec look which is why i left it so long. vz calais tailights are an option aswell, saw ss headlights on a car like mine and looked ugly without a decent front bar. i absolutely LOVE the calais look but i don't want to mock it too badly.

re: chev badges...look better than holden ones and bring a bit of colour to it. dont mind it really, better than vs 5L's these days with them on lol

have to admit, but your right.. the chev grill looks better. kinda wish you could get a chrome bar without any badge on it.





funny how a lowereered height and a set of rims really make the car looook sooo toughh.



if you do upgrades.. just make sure you can use em for the GTS coupe too.


im sure a 3inch cat back could be used on a GTS =) wouldnt be too good on a V6 but something to ponder.


set of coilovers and brakes could easily be swapped. same goes for the stezza.

...or an LSX engine swap. now im getting stupid.

just one question, when u took out front seats did that AIRBAG light come up on your dash everytime u start the car? does it make that beeping noise also?

The airbag light will only come up if you turn the ignition on while the seats are out. Shoot down to Holden or anywhere with a Tech 2 and they can reset the airbag/pre tensioner code.

Nice car mate and done well on the mods. Tastefull and tidy.

With the interiors you can save some coin and paint the plastics with a vinyl paint. I priced up the black interior and couldnt believe the price. Either way though the best interior change is to make it all black, the two tone black/cream is feral.

It's my dream to have a tough LS series engine, big brakes, trutrac and tein's in the car but the way I take things with cars it will end up turning into some sort of showcar build with a fully detailed undercarriage, minitubs etc. And in 10 years it will probably be no different to the hundreds of vs exec's with 5L's if you know what I mean. GTS is so much more special and atleast with that the only thing that needs focusing on is the engine :smilesandbanana: But to be honest the second I get my p's I'll be stoked to even be sitting in a VZ SSZ.

Rather pleased no one has picked up that they're not original...they're vz seats with a foam/trim jobby I did with (quite) a bit of help from Proseat.


New pic...I swear every time I go to my car around sunset I take a photo on my phone. It's the best light for the car, really gotta find someone with a good camera and get some real pics. Changed plates plates again too.

Just bought a set of FR19's :dancenana: Been in love with simmons since I was 12 and finally found a set. They're gold spoked with the late production reverse lip and were only used for a photoshoot.

As promised lads! Pics don't do it justice at all they look amazing!!! Getting a lot of positive looks on the road hahaha except people in xr6t's seem to enjoy showing me how their car can flutter or spin the wheels in 2nd :spew: I'm in awe the guy I got them from actually let me take them :confused:

Bought a good camera, gonna have a fiddle with it and take some good snaps on the weekend. Need to get my exhaust tips shortened and tucked into the bumper as well, doesn't look right at most angles from the back. Also considering getting the chev badge at the front either in black or running no grille at all.

Also anyone know the best way to keep the dish's nice and shiny?

VZ V6 I've got a lot of faith in these gorillas but I need help with the centrecaps!!! Might take things to the extreme and get a set of random centrecaps and some 'Simmons' stickers made up to cover them.

haha yeah i've calculated about $720 of tyre shine on this car alone over 3 years :confused:

Anyway, bit the bullet and selling the car..time to move on. Got a mate looking at it this week, fingers crossed. Gonna be pretty hard to sell with the new p-plater laws. Keeping the FR's for another project.
