Hi,

Just need some advice, after over 10 years driving this car, for the first time ever my Airbag Light on the dashboard has decided to switch on and will not go away!!

Airbags have never been deployed, never had an accident in this car, but all of a sudden for no apparent reason this light has decided to switch on.

Any advice on what it may be??

Are the cables below the front seats disconnected? What about the cable below the centre console?

Sometime ago I wrote of my experiences on my VS. The dash board had been taken out to change the dual fuel switch.

This action alone will for some reason 'disturb' the integrity of the system and in my case I got the Airbag Light.

The Auto Electrician did a System's Analysis and reset the system

My VTII has done it twice in the last 6 months for no apparent reason.. Both times is was drivers side seat bag power up test (alone that wording anyway). And each time they were only history codes.

You can't reset them yourself. You will need to contact your dealer to get it cleared. You might be lucky and have a good dealer like me who doesn't charge me for such simple tasks.

the same thing happened in my previous car (vt). was told it was real common and nothing too serious lol, so i just left it for like 2 years then sold the car.

just fixed this problem my self my problem was the clock spring in the steering wheel it supplies power to your airbags when your car is in full lock it can break if you full lock it alot or if you accidently turn your wheel while car not turned on on holden quoted me 300 bucks for the clock spring alone

PS car cant registered with that light on (well they couldnt mine)

Nice find. yes the clock spring failing is common as buggery. Generally the steering wheel contols like volume etc are affected but first I have heard of the airbog loosing its power. Again good find.
