Recently got a set of these and had to take them back as they were badly out of round. Paid the extra and got some Falken FK452's and it felt like a different car.

I have a set on the front of mine to give them a try and I find them really good. They can be a little bit noisy on the wrong road surface, but after aprox 10k, I have had no issues.

I have them on my VE SSV and when they are worn out I will definitely not be getting another set! They are crap! Can't get any traction and dangerous in the wet!!!!:train:

Dean (EXCESSV) has Federal 595 (EVO's I think). Maybe shoot him a PM and see what he thinks about them. 595's come in I think 4 variants including a semi-slick.

They are Super Steel 595's. Maybe it's more of a suspension setup than tyre issue?

I have been through 2 sets on the rears, both have had cracks accross the full width of the tread after less then 10,000km with 60% tread left. I wont be getting another set.

mine like i said are ok but with every tyre depends how u drive it to what u want from it. i can get mine (275 rears) loose on dry or wet just depends how hard u try and what hp your packing

Tried, federal basically said get bent, After alot more pushing they gave me a pro rata warranty on the first set, had to pay 40% of the 2nd set. I was furious as that basically says there was a problem but they were not going to do anything about it.

They were already on it when I bought it. In the wet I don't have to give it much at all and she slides out, don't really drive it that hard! Would like to have 275 on the rears, but only running on standard ssv rims.

I've had a set of Federal 595's (SS595s from memory)
Have lasted me 3 yrs now
Not the grippiest tire i've found in the wet, but they have lasted me well!
I'd happily use Federal again, though i am interested in trying something else for comparison

Watch them get spun up on the balancing machine and you'll see the lumpiness you'll have to live with ;) Then you've got to figure out if it's worth saving a few dollars to have your car driving like a piece of shit!!

I saw the comparison when I returned them for the Falken's and even the tyre place agreed it was unacceptable. Then again maybe it was a bad batch, but if they can let that through quality control I wouldn't be risking it.
On another note, my brother has a set of federal 595's on his vr 5L that are reasonably round but the rubber has deteriorated very quickly and you can see fine cracks all through the carcass of the tyre. So you'll also find they don't stay grippy for long ;)

i had federal 595 super steels on my car for about 2 years, out lasted any other tyre ive ever had, i didnt think grip was too bad, is defenately better than the goodyear eagle f1's ive got on now!

I'm running the 595evos on my SSV and yea their not the grippiest but show me a tyre that does bite when your motor is putting out 400hp. My turbo Forestor was spinning the fronts with 235's on it. I've got 255's on the front and 275's on the rear on 20"s and so far (15,000kms) no problems. I'm quite happy with them.

I made the mistake of putting some federal super steel 595's on my Typhoon a few years ago, after less than a 1,000k's i canned them and had to fork out for a new set of rubber (The Crap Allrounder).
Longevity isn't really a factor if they're crap, the shorter the life span the better when it comes to federals.......

i have had gt's and there not much chop, grabbed a set of federals after i finished off my gts in a burnout comp and they were terrible in the wet, understeer galore, pirelli p-zero's are what im now running and im about to change to kuhmo ecsta's cause they were the best affordable tyre in 22's

I had a set of Federals on one of my cars a while ago and got 45,000 kays out of them. That was the only good thing about them, the bad: terrible tyre noise and grip.

I'm suprised that people are complaining of excessive noise from Federals. My 595's are a little noisy on the wrong surface, but in general seem to be about the same as regular tyres.
I guess it is slightly possible that I have just got used to the noise...
You get what you pay for, but they are good value in my book.

Ive had my new federal 595 EVO's on for only 700ks thus far but heaps better than my last Kumho Ecsta KU31's.. Like riding on a cloud!. I find them grippy and low noise depending on the road surface.

Yeah saw them from Deano. I know that nothing is perfect in this world so everything is different imo. Will keep running these as long as I am happy with them. I have also heard stories about other tyre brands that people on here like so i will reserve my judgment for later :). Love them at this point!

Ive had nankangs kumho federals all good for me at powercruise the last 4 years i think it depends on the operator at the tyre plant on the day his wife crosses her legs that night and he takes it out on the whole world has a piss in the ruber mix and thers your craked tyres.

Tried Federals twice on two different cars both time the handling of the car at speed decreased instantly. Thye must have soft sidewalls or something, shocking tyres.
Awesome cheap tyres for handling and grip are Maxxis Victras Im running 245/35/19s and they grip exceptionally well in the wet and the dry. Usually cost me around 249 per corner from Bob Janes.
Cant comment on tyre life as I run extra camber on the front and no camber kit on the rear so I wear the insides out on all four pretty quick.

just put 275s on the rear of my ssv and rate them grippier than ku31s with deaper tread depth, so should get more ks from them. i drive 80kph windy and often damp hills roads to and from work each day with "enthusiasm". im very happy with them. but sounds like people dont rate them at 245, so maybe there not my best choice for the fronts.
falkens were way more expensive everywhere i went in s.a

I chose to go 255/35/20 for my fronts.. My last KU31's were a 245. I have noticed the steering feels smoother too ...
I also have a good friend who has used Federal tires for years upon years and has had nothing to complain about..

As i said i have had the Federal 595's for the last 25,000kms. I had them put on the day after buying the car, so i really only drove it home from the dealer and to the tyre shop. The fronts were very difficult to blalnce and ended up getting them replaced as Federal told the dealer there were some casting issues with that batch, so had them replaced for free, as you would expect. Now over time a vibration start to come in at 120kph and has gradually got worse. I was thinking that it was the tailshaft and had got to the point it got scary. So i have the original tyres and rims back on. These only had 100kms on them. I was going to take it back to Holden to look at. When the wife came home from having them changed over she said the vibration had gone and the rear tyres were worn out on the inside and that there were cuts across the tread. The Federal rep had been made aware and was called out. 3 out of 4 tyres were returned for a warranty claim. My tyres guy made them take the 4th tyre as well. So out of six federal tyres all have been replaced. I have told my guy that Federal are not going back on. As nice as they look i can't recommend these tyres. So i am now up for the difference between the wear on the federals and a new set of Yoky S-drives. I will be up to $1400 out of pocket.
Hope this helps any one looking into tyres.
