Just wondering what the average engine bay temp is with the LS1
The box that im mounting my isolation switch in is rated to 120ºC.

It will be under that for normal driving around. Under 90 odd degrees would be my guess as I used a thermoscan gun on the metal guard one day in side the engine bay at a race day. I checked my water temp and it was the same as on the dash guage at just on 100 degrees and the water was hotter than the guard that is for sure.
The temp will get a higher with the radiant heat with the exhaust heat at full revs but for general driving it would be pretty close to this. Dont think it would get to 120 but work it hard enough and the radiant heat from the exhausts would make it bloody hot under there. The flow through from the radiator will only remove so much heat

I suppose there's a fair amount of plastic in the engine bay anyway.
If it looks like the box is deteriorating then ill grab another one and coat it in the HTC coating that we use on refractory bricks.
That should keep a little of the heat off it
