Got to get new tyres for the ss - 235/40/R18. I have currently got bridgestone adrenalins on it - and have always had bridgestones on every car including the gf 88 camry.
Just got a quote of $345 per tyre thats fitted and balanced - but dunno if i can afford that much right now. He also recommended nexen tyres for $175 per tyre fitted and balanced but iv never had any experiance with these tyres?
I do 50,000-60,000km p.a. and a lot of highway km so i need something good in the wet (doesnt aqua plain)
Maxxis tend to do ok in tyre test?
Im open to any suggestions fellas.
Cheers

I bought the car a couple of months ago, and the seller only had to put 2 new tyres on it which i asked her to put adrenalins on the front. so she put the 2 good federals on the back and the 2 new tyres (adrenalins on the front) so far i have done 20,000km on the adrenalins and they still have about 50-60% tread left. The federals are now stuffed and need replacing.
So i will only be purchasing 2 tyres.

I had the Adrenalins on my old 272rwkw VX R8 and loved them.
I have Yokies on my VZ SV8 and again they are a good tyre but cost heaps.
Have you tryed Hankooks?

In my few years of driving i have had, bridgestone adrenalins, turanza er592, turanza ar10, firestone firehawk wideovals. all of whom have been very good tyres for the jobs i required.
I know my dad had toyos on his vx ss back in 03 and he hated them, he has also had gt radials on his berlina and they were rubbish the road noise was incredible.
He still believes the B530 are the best tyre he has ever had

The nexens he said werent a cheap rubbish tyre but he siad they would not be in the same league as the bridgestone. im a strong believer in not taking short cuts on tyres as they are the only thing that actually touch the road - if you have shit tyres it doesnt matter how good ur car is. But are the adrenalins worth double the price of others? the nexen did look to have a good tread pattern.

I guess it really comes down to your driving style and what you expect from a tyre, but I have just come off the B530's and gone to Toyo's and am very happy with them, I can't believe how quiet they are after the Bridgestones,
they are a Japanese tyre, silica compound and so far they seem very good,
time will tell I guess. They were about two thirds the price of the Bridgestones. I must admit the Bridgestone B530's did wear extremely well,
just very noisy.

Did have Maxxies on the front of the R8 from the dealership.
Was doing a sharp turn at a T intersection going around 40k's and the car kept on going straight!
DC347 is right, you get what you pay for and in this case the Maxxies on the front were CRAP!
I'd stick the Front Adrenalins on the back and get 2 new Adrenalins put on the front.

Thats what i normally do, i buy 2 tyres at a time and put the new ones on the front (for steering)
the nexen he recommended were the N5000

I've had Nexen's on my car for a couple of years and like them a lot found the grip level in wet and dry pretty damn good although I don't push my car as hard as some people do though..
so im in the same boat now, i need some new boots (only 2). i have kumho ku31's on the front and want to get them again but noone has them in stock or can get them anywhere near me bar one guy but he wants $370 each for 245/35/19. also looked at getting shipped to me from city and fitted locally but they want $40 per tyre to fit so its not that good of a deal to do that either.
as for the nexens i had them on the wheel and tyre package when i got them and found they wore and griped well for there price, still not the best on the market but up there with the best in that price range.
also federal 595 evo's are pretty good and good price so worth a look

On my VE SS ute I went looking for 2 tyres as the standard bridgestones were over $500 each. Wanted the Maxxis at $264 each but none available so ended up with Nexen at $290 each. They would have to be the worst tyres I've ever had. Ute breaks traction all the time, ESP keeps flashing it's little heart off on the DIC and generally a tyre that gives me no confidence at all. At least they're on the back so they should wear quick.
Have a pair of Maxxis on the front of the VY SS sedan, no complaints on turn in, brake performance or road noise. Just need a pair for the back to compare.

I have actually just got the current issue of MOTOR which has the tyre test in it. I was surprised at how well the Maxxis Victor ipro went. Does anyone have any experiance with this tyre?

I have been trying to get the KU31's replaced on my wifes rex but
no one here can source them either. Bob Jane is doing the KU21,
which are slightly dearer for the same price as the KU31. They
are supposed to be better than the 31's. Will find out on Saturday.

i found out today that kumho are out of stock thats why we cant get them.
was cleaning the inside of the rims this morning and have now found cracks in the sidewalls of my 2 back tyres which are no name cheapies so needed tyres today as going away tonight and only tyres in town to suit are nankang ns2's so that will have to do as i have no other choice as its not worth the risk of driving 600km over 2 days risking the sidewalls blowing out

I have NS2's on my SS in 245/40 20. They are ok I guess, but will go
