I actually really hope Todd, or Rick Kelly wins either, or both races.
They deserve a win with all the hard work they've done setting up their own team.:)

Yep going to be a top weekend at the Sydney 500. Looks like Todd will have to revert to an old chassis after the hit he took in race 2. Seems it bent a lot of the roll cage etc and that car could be a throw away.
We have one of the Townsville locals who was on the V8 committee for their V8 race staying with us for the Sydney race weekend. I hope Sydney can return the hospitality and crowd vibe that we got from the Townsville event when we went.
One thing i have noticed that is different to any other Sydney round (Oran Park or ECreek) is the amount of corporate involvement. I work in IT and i can't believe the number of companies who would otherwise not even blink an interest in car racing that are taking customers to this event. My company is taking the Vodafone CFO and deputy CFO to the event in one of the corporate facilities somewhere. I already have tickets so won't be sipping the free booze with the corporate heavyweights. :)

i heard all the corporate boxes are sold out already so massive interest in that
i can get free parking but just need some tickets

New track so should be a great leveler as none of the teams will have any data
It looks a fast track so the teams should set up for a fast pace
Cannot wait for December 4, I have bought my tickets to the event really looking fiorwrad to this one, and the free concerts Cold Chisel re-uniting will be excellent, this whole event is shaping up to be the best V8 event

Yes I agree ! It suddenly miraculously takes place 10 mins from my home, the missus springs 2 tickets on me on the proviso she gets to go to cold chisel :) easy choice. The perfect final chapter of this race should read: Holden 1st,
2nd & 3rd. And to think there were doubts it would not even pay for itself ..... It will be here for quite some time although with many different sponsorship names I bet ;)
Thanks for the program Hoon, I was wondering when I should have a look at one lol

If it gets anyway close to vibe of Adelaide, it should be good. Should have better "permanent" facilities, using parts of the showground etc. I just hope its not too hot.......

are many you guys from Newy coming down the F3 for this?
you guys should get as many LS1 members in Newcastle together to do a road trip down to Sydney for the big race

Me and a couple of mates are flying up on friday morning from melb. With Tiger (i hope we make it). We usually go to Adelaide 500 each year but missed it this year so Sydney has alot to live up to.
Be good to see the NSW HSV Owners club and hopefully some tough streeters.
See you guys there.
P.S Where do we go out after the race?? Whats good?? Pub/Club:banana:

Yes looks like low 30'ish degree temps and fine and sunny. In some way i wouldn't mind some rain to spice up the action a bit.
In the end 30 degrees is cool compared to what i normally put up with at Clipsal each year.
Bring on the Sydney 500. :smilesandbanana::smilesandbanana::smilesandbanana :

Not quite. Just got back from doing a couple of laps around it. Will be closed off by about 11, i reckon. Has some interesting corners. It looks pretty fast allround, but i think the most of the passing with be coming out of 5 and into 6 and down the main straight into 1. I'll be interested to see if they will try to get side by side thru 3. I don't think they will but that corner has potential for it.
Looks to be a good weekend!!!

I'm impressed with young Reynolds. He showed some real class at Wanneroo on the Saturday until his tyre blew out..
Will be interesting to see what he can do next year given he then has had a full learning year under his belt
also Congrates to Wincup on back to back titles. Credit where credit is due, 3 Bathurst titles and 2 Championships is nothing to sneeze at.
cheers

not likely but you never know.

Gee you can be a bit bitter at times Hoon69.
Lowndes stuffed up and Will tried to make the most of it but out braked himself. Unfortunatley for Craig he would not have known Will was there..
Not sure how you can call that a "stunt". You seem to insinuate it was some sort of deliberate act. There were plenty of drivers Red and Blue who made errors today and Will was one of them.
And well done to GT on the win. You are a class act mate.

Didnt see the race so dunno what happened, but GT is always a very clean racer. congrats to him for the win its been a long year for him and hopefully he can get that number 1 back next year.
Also congrates to Wincup he was by far the class of the field this year and deserves the championship, its hard to believe he was without a drive for 12months only a couple of years ago.

What stunt? Will made an error, and paid the price for it. I mean seriously does every single incident involving a TWR car have to be a "stunt" or some other retarded conspiracy Ford fans seems to come up with?
Like Carby650 said plenty of drivers today made mistakes, and Will was one of them unfortunately.

frig me,so i said STUNT as a word and you's make it out that im implying it means all these wonderful things you'll seem to think im saying, how about instead of implying what im saying you usual actual fact for a change,go read my reply i called him numerous things the first was "stupid" the second was "stunt" meaning the outbreaking aka dive bombing move, like come on it was never going to work, yeah Lowndes tapped the wall but Davidson was still behind too far to outbreak one of the best in the game its was late and stupid to say the least its a stunt it didnt pay off,cry me a friggin river for using the word :bawl:
there is a teams championship at stake, you seriously think he wasnt thinking that man his only mentioned it half a dozen times himself, whether or not it was deliberate only he knows but i wasnt implying it was,i said he had made a stupid move that has cost another team points it just happens to be the team infront of them all i said was that move has basically handed HRT the teams championship am i not right in sayingthat cause look at the points it shows its the case.
VY18's im not going into this crap with you,you always seem to have something to say "after" someone else, retarded conspiracys and ford fans man you havent changed have you!

Not sure if it was due to it being the last race of the season or not.

Sorry boys,
Hoon 69 and Carby650 Unforgiving Yes, It's a street circuit, dull......??? Nup!
Absolute cracker jack finale! The track has it all! Turn 4&5 smashing stater motors off, a nice long left sweeper @ turn 6 with a few needing right hand down for the OS and half the field failing to make turn 8. Flat spots and over shoots everywhere due to the 3 different surfaces and Black flags getting dished out left right and center. In those 70 odd laps i thought about 10 drivers that had a chance of taking home the trophy. A lot of bad luck stories but todays race was one of the best action packed races of the season! Thumbs up to the Telstra 5 hungee! (for a street circuit)
Congrats and farewell to Cam McConville! Well until the 2010 enduros anyway!

It may appear to be dull to some, but it aint so when driving around the track itself. The undulations and camber off the road in some sections does play a part in the difficulty in mastering the track. You can be off an apex by less than foot and onto the marbles and this could end in tears. Walk the track and you'll soon find out what the drivers have to encounter.

Want to know what this track reminded me of
Canberra i remember being there and look how long that place lasted for,if its unforgiving its costly if its costly teams will frown upon it so will V8SC
i loved the racing, when you did see the passing but you only see that happen coming off the straights thats not exciting to me.

Hey Black Utester ... were you riding in the Saturday lunchtime entertainment?
They had a peleton riding around the circuit. About 6 or 7 laps.
I timed lap 5 I think it was, and it was 4 min 16 sec. On the 3.4km circuit, that makes for an average speed of 48km/h
Not bad ... and not bad considering the V8sc's were 1 min 30. I guess the pushbikes can take the corners pretty quick.
As a spectator, I can say that Tony Cochrane did a brilliant job.
This was the easter show with cars instead of animals.
A 3 day party with V8's. perfect.
On Sunday he spoke to the crowd, and acknowledged they needed more TV's and more bridges (even he had to slum it with the punters, and had to walk next to me over a bridge to get into the complex). But as he went on to say, this is the first year, and they will learn for next time.
I was in stand 5, directly opposite the podium/pits, but the view was pretty ordinary.
On saturday I did a full walk around of the track during the race. I reckon the best spot was stand 33.
A great weekend though.

Sorry mate, Canberra not lasting had absolutely nothing to do with the circuit layout or damage that occured to cars. It was simply the totally wrong time of year (0 degrees in the middle of winter) so crowd numbers were far too low and the usual greenies whinging about the inconvenience of doing a 5 minute detour for 3 days a year and the life threatening noise pollution :flipoff:
For what its worth, I loved watching the Canberra 400 and I also loved watching the Sydney races. Excellent exciting racing. One silly decision with the sydney race was to make the tyre wall tongue along the corner 8 exit wall reducing room, trapping and sucking in too many cars. The tyres should not have been along the corner exit wall.

Agreed on adelaide is a great street circuit, but i think you'll find most passes @ adelaide are off long straights too. I thought Lee Hold's over and under move through sticky turn 8 was a pretty sweet move. Plenty of overtaking from unforced errors which to me to see the best of the best making mistakes was something different, and good to watch!
Canberra??? No comparison IMO. You couldn't do a lap around that track in a mini and not take the mirrors off. @ syd The approach to turn 1 is over 3 lanes wide and gives the ol "3 wide "options to the boys with the big kahunas. Best corner on any track to be wide!
Very Very technical track IMO.
All street circuits tend to be costly, but with Mr TC puffing his chest up to make V8SC the biggest spectacle he possibly can, street circuits will always have a part in SC. The punters love it. Street circuits are not really my ideal type of track to be at and watch as you usually see f&^% all!
True testament to a street Street circuit??............. Bathurst! (technically)

And whats with the mid strenght beer?????:soap:

Thought it was a top weekend and congrats to all at V8SA. While i still think Clipsal is the best event you have to remember Clipsal has 20 years of history (F1 + V8 years).
Give the Sydney event 5 years. I think it can be improved and a few section of the track hopefully improved along with spectator facilities like more/bigger overpass bridges, more toilets, more shade areas etc. Overall but a top weekend of racing and entertainment. Everyone i spoke to in the stands (i was in stand 12 at the turn 2/3/4 chicane) said they would be back.
I was lucky enough to have Cold Chisel VIP passes for Sat night and spent the 2 hours before Chisel came on stage watching Living End from the wings of the stage and then having a drink with the band in the green room. I was in the wings when Cold Chisel went on stage and the roar from everyone in the stadium was unbelievable. Mate those rock n roll bands must really get an andrenalin rush from big concerts. I know it gave me goose pimples.
Bring on the 2010 Sydney 500 !!!

Nah, I'm not up to that standard yet fanging it around at 48km/hr!! Wouldn't be surprised if it was LACC and other top riders from other clubs.
I read an article and TC is already looking at making more improvements to the track in terms of widening it in some sections...

absolutely, i thoroughly enjoyed the weekend we spent so much time wandering the whole venue and trade displays, it was like one huge party all weekend long, the facilities are first class and everyone was in great spirits, I am hanging for 2010 to experience it all again
