Hi guy's,
I own a 2002 GTO coupe 5.7L
I want to upgrade the extractors and exhaust, but i dont just want any old set i want the best with proven results, so the question is which is the best for performance, noise and durability?
Will my computer need re-mapping?
Who should i get to do this?
Are they proven to be one of the best computer tech's in the buisness?
Basically i don't want to spend heaps of money then find out i should have used this computer bloke or this brand of headers and exhaust combo.
So far on the car it is stock, other than a K&N panel filter.
Also which is the best cold air kit to get for these cars? also with proven results over the other available brands and keeping with the stock look and standard air box.

Let the war begin ...
Do yourself a favour mate go listen to some of the sound files on here and see what YOU like the sound of.
Get twin 2.5 bolt on only or twin 3" for a deeper note and extra breathing for a cam
1 3/4 long tube 4>1's minimum
100cpi metal substrate cats
Hi GTOcouple, Couple more bits of information required I believe before anyone can really recommend anything. 1. is it auto or manual 2. Have far are you thinking of going with mods to your car ie camshaft etc, You need to plan for the future. As far as getting your car tuned you can put a full exhaust and cai onto your car with a tune but the benefits of these components would be really utilies until you get it tuned.

If you want the best go DiFillipo it has the best proven results so far but is quite expensive but when ever has the best been cheap???You will need a tune after their install i thing some 1 3/4 headers and 2.5""twin catback with some high flow cats will get you what you want. I would go a mafless tune and OTR to get the max results from a stock car.

depends where in sydney you are
CHE automotive are supposed to be decent up there, but i don't know from experience.
get what you think sounds good
i have
1 7/8 4 >1 Difilipo extractors
200cpi cats
twin 3" difilipo exhaust.
Personally the sound is mint.
Others prefer other things though.
So as i suggested earlier listen to some and go from there

Hi GTOcoupe,
I have a VX R8 Clubsport with a Sureflo 3.5' med/loud catback, x-force 1-5/8 tri-y's, high flow cats (soon to be upgraded to Ballistic Racing cats) and smallish cam. I think it sounded mint before the cam with the sureflo 3.5', however, the cam has now added a bit of lump to the note :) Make sure you get some good quality stainless steel cats, they made the exhaust note much deeper :)
I have done my mods in stages, which I know is not the cheapest way to do things, but I love seeing the difference each mod makes to the power and sound :)
Greg at Sureflo was excellent to deal with, however, if you use the search button, you will other forum sponsors have an excellent reputation aswell :) Have a listen to the sound files (found in the multimedia exchange folder on the forum) and go from there, or I am sure someone off the forum would be happy to let you listen to there car.
Cheers,
R8Ryan

That is correct, the Genies are 1 5/8" primaries into 2" secondaries then 2 1/2" collectors. Others such as Pacemaker have a smaller 1 7/8" secobdary pipe.
Still running a set of these Genies on our CV8 which recently went 12.0 at 113mph.
