Now, I understand that they may not be flush with money, but I don't know what kind of "manager" they are expecting for tops $45k... let alone one who knows...
Windows 2003 Server
Active Directory
Exchange 2003/2007
SQL Server 2005
VPN Solutions
Cisco routers and wireless networks

Good luck to them...

Some poor grad student with no real world experience. :(
lol, SQL server support.... I haven't seen a job ad for that under $75k!
Somebody trained in all of those qualified skills will be making 50K or more

Not sure why they are advertising it as a manager role, its quite clear they have no chance of getting anything but a grad with little to no real world experience for $45k. Hell I'd even be surprised if they managed to hold on to whoever they get for more than a year - it's pretty much only good for a stepping stone at that pay.

Probably by SQL Server support they mean keeping the server running/performing decently etc, not DBA stuff.

Just curious, are you in a union?
Is this one of those situations where you take the job with a bit of a pay cut but gain first-rate experience?

Actually, i am in a union. It is optional though, if we want to join the union or not. I work for Woolworths, and they can afford to pay us good money lol

You pay for what you get. You don't get much for 45k a year.
I was on a construction site where the tilers were south korean students on $100 a day for a 10 hour day. Aussies would have been on about $300-$400 a day depending on their hours worked and their rate. The work the Koreans did was pretty shoddy and resulted in many defects that had to be rectified at the companys expense. A simple example of getting what you pay for.
i got one better. back when i was looking for jobs, saw a level 1 helpdesk position. full time, and the advertised salary was $25k ! lol that works out to be $12.65 an hour
