I was warned by many that shadow chrome refinishing by them was very dodgy and short term fix cheaper in the long run to sell as is and by new!!!

A couple of years ago my wheels were sent to Advance by my crash repairer. I ended up with brand new wheels as according to the crash repairer the wheel finish was totally unacceptable. I never saw the repaired wheels so I have no idea what the job was really like - all I know is that I ended up with new wheels.
Matching shadow chrome is a bitch.

I had the need to have one of the rims on our GTO repainted years ago.
I went to this company.....they were very honest about the Chrome Shadow repaint....they said they could do it, but that I would probably pick the repainted one from the original three. Apparently quite a difficult paint processs....even different batches of original wheels can be different.
So, I've got no problems with this company, who on another occasion repaired a buckled rim immediately for me, so that I was still able to go on holiday.
Cheers, Pickles.

I had my Simmons repaired by them, did a good job pulling the buckles out but they machined the lip wrong. Don't even know why they machined the lip like they did...and they lost my centre cap which I wouldn't have been able to replace

shadow chrome is very hard to get repainted correctly...
as Pickles said sometimes from Factory their batch color varies
when I sustained damaged on the GTS rims, I just got all four redone at once so there won't be any color variation issues...
not the ideal choice but if you want it right probably only option...
otherwise the touch up fixes as mentioned are perfectly ample...
good luck,

Hi
Correct.
Advanced Alloy Wheel Repairs in Moorabbin have told me that if I have shadow chrome I will not be happy with the color match and would be best to do all 4 rims at once or else I would notice the difference.
They also stated even the factory rims come out in different shades from car to car.

Richard

Yeah, we've had a few rims done at work, one of which was a gts wheel and an original good rim was needed for painting correctly. As most have said, was told the same thing by advance that shadow chrome is very very difficult to repair/paint perfectly.
Probably explains why there are so many sets of damaged shadow chrome hsv wheels for sale on ebay....... still wanting top dollar

Sorry didn't wan't to come across as bagging them..wrong choice of words by me, but after going down there I was a tad disappointed with the response and quote for repair of the 3 wheels to be repaired...
I did go down there after all on the advice of a few others, that if anyone could help they were the ones to do it!!!

Sorry I am that I sold the COUPE but it is again up for sale a little bastardised by someone who has no idea about the car, just trying to make a quick buck but has not chance against the others up for sale unless someone just as clueless buys it!!!!
Thought about buyin it back but not at his dreamer pricetag!!!...I will though buy another in the not to distant future,I'm quite interested in the Devil Yellow Targa Coupe but the timing isn't right as I am aiming to do Targa in 2012 myself in the Cobra!!!$$$$$$..:)
Cheers Yella
