Buy it off ebay from HK. PS3 games are region free, it's the blue rays that have regions.

Beat me to it Macca. I bought a couple of games from Hong Kong recently. Assassins Creed and Tekken 6 at my door, $110 for the both. Considering these are going for $120 in places like EB Games and Game, it's well worth waiting for the postage time.

Do customs have any say in the matter? people were kicking up a massive fuss when left for dead 2 was banned in Aus and couldn't get the game here. Basically you had to know a guy in the States that you trusted to download it and gift it to you on steam. They were saying you couldn't just import it? Any ideas?

customs dont do anything. they can make an official warning blah blah well fine you $100k, but as if their going to individually check the thousands of packages that come into Oz every day

like others have said, buy your games from overseas, stuff supporting the crappy australian industry with rip off stores like EB Games. with the exchange rate being US$0.92, its incredibly cheap to buy overseas, including postage as well.

since my ps3 is american, i buy all my blu-ray movies from amazon.com, cant beat $16 for a brand new blu-ray movie, compared to the ridicolous $40 + they charge here

If you are talking PS3 then BEWARE as I buy allot of games from the Sates and YES its true that they are "region free" but if you try and download a map pack or a bonus item for the PlayStation store it WONT work. Most/all of the games have an in-built code to allow you to buy and upgrade within the game, e.g tiger woods, COD5, MW2 to name a few, so this means it will ALWAYS reference the purchase to the US playstation store (or wherever coded too) this is written into the game code and there is no way around it. You can still play online but as an american as you will get routed to the US servers via the Aus server so in turn your ping rate and attenuation will be ridiculous if you play against other Aussies.

The reason they ban them is because Aus has no R rating for games(Like other countries) so if the game comes under an R rating it either has to be changed before its brought to Aus or they just ban it and dont let it in..

THE Australian ban on sci-fi video game Aliens vs Predator has been overturned by the Classification Review Board.

The game was initially banned due to graphic gore, but the Board has given it an MA15+ rating with the warning "strong science fiction violence".

The Board explained in a statement that the violent scenes – originally deemed too graphic for Australia due to the lack of an R rating for games – can be allowed at an MA15+ level as they "are not prolonged and are interspersed with longer non violent sequences".

"The violence is fantastical in nature and justified by the context of the game, set in a futuristic science-fiction world, inhabited by aliens and predators," the Board said.

"This context serves to lessen its impact."

"The more contentious violence is randomly generated and is not dependent on player selection of specific moves."

Earlier this month, the game's UK developer had refused to modify the game after the initial Australian ban.

"We will not be releasing a sanitised or cut down version for territories where adults are not considered by their governments to be able to make their own entertainment choices," Rebellion Developments told gaming blog CVG.

"Our game is not suitable for game players who are not adults."

Australia is one of the only developed nations in the world without an R18+ rating for games.

This month, the Government called for public input on the matter after seeing research that shows the average Australian gamer is aged 30.

Just had a quick game of AVP demo and it's hard to get used to running up walls and roofs as the alien. Half the time I didn't know if I was on the roof or the floor. Also, the alien didn't have much in the way of attacking but I did manage to sneak up on a few marines, grab them and put my tail through the back of their head.

I Downloaded the demo on the XBox360. It took ages to get a game going and even that was with just 2-3 players max. I played the 2 games as a predator and it seemed really fun, maybe anther level would of been great (something outdoors!). Other then that i will get this game on release :).
