I have recently purchased off a fellow ls1'er a vz genuine holden bluetooth kit to install in my vy clubby.
Now this was removed from a vz clubby.

I don't seem to have any spare buttons near the power window switch. The traction control button seems to fit :\
and i also dont have a matching plug on the LHS of the centre console.

The part number of the actual module is : 92179549

Do i need a VY specific one, or the loom?

The bluetooth kit comes with a loom that from memory plug into the power windows loom (for power) and then into a loom near the stereo for audio. The kit should come with the buttons and a new facia panel that allows an additional button next to the TC button, instead of a dummy button.

???
what did you actually get? just the module? or anything else
in short to answer your question no they are no different VZ/VY one.
in the BT kit you should get the loom, module, microphone and BT button, same type as TC button, and if you are really lucky some blanking buttons.
behind the powerwindows switch you should have a space for 4 buttons, if you have a manual car then the T/C button is on the top right side, put the BT button on the top left side.

everything else should be plug and play.

you need to undo the big plug that powers the power windows then you have a female and male plu from your BT loom, pretty self explanatry plug the male end into the power windows and female into the existing loom
plug the other end into the module, there is also a little plug that plugs in to the sterio loom located on the inside kick panel of the passenger side.

everything else sholud just plug all in

From experience your best to get the VE bluetooth kit and an adapter loom to use it in the VZ. This has better support for more modern phones inc the iPhone. Have a search because im sure i documented this caveat.

Don't see why it wouldn't mate ... seeing as its just a bluetooth module, if you wire it in correctly into the car you should get it working fine.

I thought I would comment seeing I install these for a living (Among other things)
Firstly:

1. Unless you have an iPhone, the factory Holden kits in any model are ABSOLUTE RUBBISH!!
2. As stated above, Holden supplies everything - the loom, the module, microphone, and the button to go above the power window switches in the centre console

Now, if you do want to fit it up, the microphone goes inside the map light, you will notice the holes like a grill. The buttons are self explanatory, you either have a blanking plug to fit, or you need to change the panel.

With the wiring, you can put ANY handsfree unit in with the following wiring instructions:
Black/Green-Earth
Yellow/Black Stripe-Radio Mute
Yellow/Grey Spot-Accessory Power
Orange-Constant Power
x2 Blue wires- Audio in + and -

I have also had success adding GPS units and ipod controllers using this loom. It is behind the panel next to the radio, on the LHS. Take the glovebox out and undo 2 screws to remove the panel.

My advice always is, unless it's a VE and you want to use the answer button on the steering wheel, always go aftermarket. You can still use your volume control on your steering wheel with the VY/VZ cars.

Hope that helps

i am doing this to hide away things that can be seen to be stolen.
And having a clubsport i have no map light at the top centre ... i believe the location is at the top of the a pillar. as illustrated in the manual.

Really!
I've used 3 different Nokia's with mine, and all sync up perfectly, and operate without any issues at all.
How could something that is well integrated and works perfectly be "absolute rubbish"?

I have had far too many instances with customers who have "Just picked up there shiny new VY/VZ/VE' and have alot of 'echoing' problems - where the person calling the driver can hear themselves speaking. Yes, turning the volume down helps, but it is still there and has been eliminated by installing an aftermarket kit. It takes all of 5 minutes to install a genuine unit, hence why they are popular, but I've had too many problems to recommend them.

Did anybody know VE's had a "Firmware update" done on their VE's when they went in for a service? It was to try and fix audio issues.

As mentioned, there are some phones that do work quite well, but it's hard to find 1 that does, and generally phones that are compatible are 5+ years old - you should see the list they have!!

You may find you won't have a problem, but I know what I would be recommending to my customers

yes, good point thankyou, I was thinking statesman, they have the provision in the map light in the centre, you just need to take it out of it's plastic case and sit it in it's new spot:)

Not to mention making more out of the cheap aftermarket kits than you would installing dearer genuine kits....:hide:
Both options have pro's and cons. "Most" will be happy either way, but there are super low genuine kit warranty complaints from our experience. :)

Definetely agree, everybody has had different experiences - I for one have no time to muck around with warranty claims, so I use what has had the least amount of returns for us.

Back to the starting point, if you want to use what has been given to you, as long as you have the hardware (controller box, microphone and button) you can use the wiring colours I have listed to hook it up. As you are using an iPhone, it will work fine. Apple seem to have their Bluetooth software right; It just works with everything

Have fun, hope we've been a help

obviously their stereo wasn't set up properly either from factory or after the install and they haven't bothered to check the documentation as it lists this as a FAQ and provides an easily rectified answer. I doubt it would echo constantly all the time if set up correctly.

Ive got a Nokia CK-7W kit for my VY and i cant fault it.
Phreddy on just commodores sells a kit that utilizes a factory button (or a custom one with the bluetooth symbol on it) and has a plug to plug it all into the audio/power plug in the passenger foot well.
Ive ordered one, just need to pay for it

Many phones that wont connect to the original module will work if the module is reflashed with a later spec. Anyone with a VY or VZ and a phone that wont pair up and operate properly should look for a spot of green paint on the module housing. Modules without the green paint do not have the latest reflash. Any dealer can organise it for generally under $50. Module is sent away for a few days to the supplier.

Thats funny PD, when i tried to get my Z unit reflashed, I was told by my local dealership that they are not upgradeable and im best to goto the VE Bluetooth unit instead, these i was told, were upgradeable, not the Z's.

I THINK they showed me a tech bulletin of some description that said it cant be upgaded, but dont hold me to that

I had the bluetooth installed in my VZ back in 2006. It worked fine with my Motorola V3x but wouldn't pair with my new phone the Nokia N95. I ran a couple of dealers and they quoted $110 - $120.00 to reflash with later version of the software. Paid my money and works fine. The only problem I have is the microphone is stuck on the A-Pillar near the sun visor but with hot days the microphone is left hanging as the glue doesn't seem to work well. What does the manual say to fix the microphone with?

There is a retailer bulletin on reflashing VY-VZ through Lumen.
However, any business is only as good as it's staff mate.

Yeah price can vary. The cheaper cost is generally more so when you remove it yourself, but some charge trade for this, others full retail, and various other reasons. Much like the wild differences in keyhead programming between dealers.
Should be just ultra high bond double sided tape to reattach it.

Im hearing ya davo. I have a VZ with the 2.2 factory bluetooth, and its flawless. Pairs every time, no echoing, and is obviouslt fully integrated to the stereo.

It may / may not have higher failure rates, youd know best seeing as you're in that industry, however i strongly debate they are "absolute rubbish". Mine is better than any carkit ive had in any other car.

When I purchased my VZ I had bluetooth car kit installed for my Nokia 6280 (or 6820 cant remember now). It worked great I was really happy with it.
Until my work changed me to a Nokia E71. Did not pair, nothing.
Now again work has changed me to an IPhone (great phone by the way). I would love to be able to use the bluetooth car kit (as it cost around $495 at the time).
You guys are saying that I only need to take the module to my dealer and have them reflash it?
Appreciate your answers.

That's correct. I had mine updated with the v2.2 of the blue tooth software and it works fine. Cost me around $100 which is reasonable considering they had to remove the unit, send it, software upgrade, sent back and re-installed. Just make sure the updated software is compatible with your new phone.

Well Hey!
I went down to my local Holden dealer and asked them if they knew anything about reflashing or upgrading my bluetooth module.
There was a little head scratching but said they would find out.
They called me two days later and said they can do it.
Quoted me between $100 to $150 (to pull out, send it away, then reinstall).

I ended up pulling it out myself (easy), handed it to them. They called me a week later to pick up. Only $50.

I installed it and now works perfectly. For 50 bucks I'm very happy :goodjob:

BTW that was for an IPhone, but I'm sure they could do it for most others.

As the other guys have said, I have a factory bluetooth system in my VZ, only issue I've ever had with it is it wouldn't pair with my N95 when I got it, but a simple $100 re-flash and that was fixed. Have asked quite a few people if there is any echo etc and most can't even tell when I answer in my car, no echo or anything, sound quality is excellent.

Compare this to my old nokia bluetooth kit in a previous car that echoed quite bad, to the point that any time anyone called while I was in the car simply asked me to call them back when I had a chance to pull over. Also compared to a couple of other people with bluetooth car kits, most seem to echo - hell I have a mate who bought a headunit that was designed to work perfectly with his iphone (charging and music via cable, handsfree via bluetooth) and it echoes so much that you pretty much can't talk while he's on his handsfree.

Overall I'd say that the holden factory bluetooth system is one of the better ones I've ever used.

Those upgrade prices are a bit different to those I have been quoted for a Bluetooth upgrade in my work car ( Yes , unfortunately the company provides Territory's , but it makes you enjoy your Holden much more on the weekends ) .
My new Nokia 2730 will not work successfully with the Bluetooth and Ford have quoted me $330 for the upgraded Module which came out on Sept '09 and 1 hour labour to install at $125/Hr Total = $455 .
I am off to buy the BlueAnt Supertooth III at $129 to give that a go .

I have done the same thing and the Holden dealer quoted me $280 to get it flashed and $50 postage. If I pulled it out .
Then rang back to say that Lumen Australia had gone under, and could not send it away to get reflashed.
Could you send me the name of the Holen dealer you used I may be able to sent it to them.

So a bit of a thread dig. I'm returning my stereo in the Monaro back to the stock head unit. Now I bought a vy/vz bluetooth kit years ago that i never fitted. I can't get this to connect to my iPhone 4s. The phone finds the " Holden" module but will not actually connect. Can anyone advise any of the following?
1) had anyone got their iphone to work with this module?
2) will I need to upgrade it to a ve spec module?
3) as has been mentioned above has anyone had their module re flashed to work with an iphone

Thanks in advance
