On a few occasions now my 2007 Captiva Diesel will turn over but won't start. No warning lights are shown. RACQ said to take it to Holden. Has anyone experienced this before??

There is a techline on diesel Captiva's relating to some faulty fuel pumps.
Speak to a dealer.

Do you wait for the glow plug light to go out? I've had my diesel captiva kick over but not fire a few times, but it's been when I've tried to turn the key straight away. My problem is that it sometimes stalls when I go to take off. It's been to the dealer twice now and they reckon they can't fault it, like the reverse sensors that are intermittent, they can never seem to find a fault.

I have had this happen once with my 08 Captiva.

I parked in a car park and turned the car off. I then thought I would move it forward a a little bit more, so I went to restart it and it just cranked over and over and over and would not restart. So I left it there and went and did my shopping, all the while musing in my mind as to whether it would restart.

Upon returning it started at the first turn of the key. Bizarre.

Hasn't happened since, and I've never been able to recreate it either - I tried in my driveway the switch engine off/immediate restart, but it always restarted.

This is exactly what is happening to our diesel Captiva. It has happened twice now over a period of 2 months.

Yes, I do wait until the glow plug light goes out before I start cranking the engine. Strange as it happens every now and then??
