...for posts to be approved in the Classified section? Sometimes it takes more than 12 hours for a post to be displayed.

So the mods can get first pick of the good shit

I can understand the initial post/thread being moderated but why does every subsequent post in a thread need to be approved before being displayed? Never seen this on the many other forums i frequent.

Probably got something to do with it being free and they have their arses covered, and for taking so long -- they might have other thing to do?? Just my thought on the subject.

It takes a while because the mods have lives and jobs away from the forums, as opposed to Carsales etc where they have people sitting there employed solely to look at the submissions. I don't think half a day is a ludicrous amount of time to wait. If you can't wait a few hours for it to appear, then you should consider using Ebay instead.
The reason why all posts are moderated instead of just the first one is because we get a lot of people trying to post things like:
"Maaaate, you're dreaming with that asking price"
"You can buy them cheaper through XXXXXX"
"I'm selling one of these too but don't have enough posts to create my own thread so I'll just hock my sh*t in yours"
"What an ugly car!"
"As new? Isn't this the same car you pranged a while back? You're trying to scam everyone!"
"I'm not interested in buying your car, but where did you get those wheels?"
"Cool car dude"
People make silly and pointless posts through the classifieds just like they make in the normal forum threads. The only difference is that in the classifieds is that one silly post can hurt people's chances of selling, so we moderate them first to remove the rubbish.
If you are the seller and are worried about missing out on an offer in the few hours it might take for approval, just subscribe to your own thread when you create it, and you will get an email with the reply even though it isn't visible on the general forum yet.

Fair point XLR8 V8. I didn't think people would make such comments when someone's trying to sell something.

Go and have a look at any forum that doesn't moderate the classifieds and you'll see just how much crap is posted in such threads.

You be amazed. People really never cease to surprise us with the silly things they do.

True, we do sometimes screw up and click OK on the approval window before fully vetting the posts. Usually happens due to one of 3 things:
1. A Mod spends a hard day at their paid job (with the blue screen open the whole time of course). They're going through the posts and suddenly realise it's 10 secs after home time, so they just click OK to all and go to the pub
2. I'm going through the posts after finishing my normal 12hr night shift work. Then I suddenly wake up and hour later with my head on the keyboard, drool all over my desk and wondering why my screen says "22 posts approved"?
3. Ryzz is at the pub showing his friends how cool it is that he can moderate a forum from his IPhone. He goes to approve a single post and the touchscreen keyboard ignores his stumpy fingers and approves all instead. So Ryzz just says "I meant to do that, I love my phone, it's so awesome" and orders another beer.
It's been a little while since I stirred Ryzz, so I thought what better time than Xmas to throw one in. Merry Xmas Ryzz :D

I had a thread closed at roughly 12am today (Christmas) so the mods go ok from where I'm standing in relation to the classified section :goodjob:
Btw didn't know Ryzz was old enough to get into pubs  and so I thought he was still on Ginger beer :)
