Hi all,

just ordered my SS-V wagon and trying to deicde the best way to go, is it better to have the supersports fitted ex factory dealer and pay the price premium or get a set of what i assume are copies from

wheels.my105.com/index.asp?product=3875&CategoryID=7290&parentid=

the advantage of the copies is i have the standard 19's as backup wheels but doe anyone know the quality of these? possibly heavier and more brittle?

Why would you want to buy at a premium from Holdens?
Plenty on here have copies, me included, and have no dramas.
I got mine sent from Protek Tyres in Melbourne to Adelaide cheaper than anywhere in Adelaide.
I got a set of VE GTS copies though with tyres.
Maybe PM Black_Diamond and see what he can do.

3 year Australia wide warranty, they're a known brand, they balance easily, they don't need crappy spacer rings like the fit anything knock off's...
There's four quick reasons. :)
The cheap knock off's have one benefit.
They are cheap.

Id buy the copies lets face it unless your going to go 4x4 with your car it wont be an issue.
As far as balancing goes i dnt see that that will be much issue either ive had a car in the past with copies and found them to be great.
Done really see the point in paying 4 times as much to get genuine holden rims that probably come out of the same factory as the knock offs anyway

And aren't ROH rims made overseas now anyway?

Definitely not the same factory. Not even the same country.
Like anything, it's down to personal choice. Some people will always try to save every dollar possible. Others will pay more for peace of mind and greater "support" in the event of an issue. Only the person looking to buy can make that decision.
One thing people need to be extremely aware of though, when fitting cheap aftermarket wheels to a new car, is that if the car develops issues in the suspension area, the risk of warranty knock back is substantially higher, as aftermarket wheels are a notorious cause of balance related dramas on new cars.

they make supersport copies???!?!

i love supersports.

but i would say go for the copies, as long as they are ADR approved (or whatever), then i dont see why not. but def get ones that dont need spacer rings due to one size fits all.

Can they break or something and cause problems?

Spacer rings are not ADR approved and are illegal, they have a habit of moving and causing your wheel nuts to come loose.

These spacer rings are a huge P.I.T.A, i know first hand....i have to run these plastic spacer rings for my 18" ANZ rims. With them on, the car drives well, but they are a little fat on the hub so the wheels are on super tight which means its a pain to get them off. If i dont run them at all the wheel nuts seem safe but i get bad vibration through the wheel between 88-100 clicks.

I asked around to see whether they were the right spacers and every place said "Key word, Commodore"...pretty much one size fits all and the commodore's go on tight!
