View Full Version : VY Monaro seat problem
I have a problem with the passenger seat recline controls on my VY Monaro.
When I pull the lever to collapse the seat and move it forward it works erratically. Sometimes not at all other time only a short disctance. I also am having the same problems with the button to move the seat back. The actual seat controls seem to work OK.
Can someone describe how to get into to the lever control and where the microswitch is.
Any other hints appreciated.

Yeah I am seeing the exact same thing on mine. I was thinking of taking it to holden but hey it's not worth fixing, just make the poor buggas work harder to get in and out :p

I had a similar issue in my first Monaro, I think you will find its the pad in the base of the seat that is meant to sense when the seats occupied and stop it motoring forward/backward. These have a habit of malfunctioning..
Cashie, thanks, that sounds exactly like the problem. Now how do you get to the pad. Can it be replaced?

When I did mine, I did it at the same time I replaced the drivers flattened foam in the seat base.
I pulled the seat out, removed the base, removed the leather and replaced the seat foam.
After rebuilding the seat it never failed again, I think the pad just needed to be located correctly (it had moved a bit)..

In my V2 the seat played up when the plastic cap on the front of the LH seat runner on the driver's was off. I pulled it off to bolt an extinguisher there when I took it for a run down the 1/8th mile. I dreading any future problems with all the damn electric control stuff in it though!
BTW, there is no such thing as a VY Monaro.

:goodjob: cashie, thanks for that info as mine does exactly the same thing as mentioned. ususally not a probelm for me, but when you get inconsiderate people that cant understand the seat has malfunctioned and either try squeezing through the non existant gap wreaking the leather or manhanding the seat doesnt help.
