So we put the HID kit in my VE last night (well a huge thanks to Northy because he did most of the work). Great product from gerald and Gadgetmaster.

however, both sides decided they didn't want to play ball, at different times.

So this is what happened.

Installed the left side, checked, working. Tighten up ballast. Check, working.

Installed the right side, checked, working. Tighten up ballast. Check, not working. hmmmm. Check the fuses. Now this is where things got intersting. The inside of the fuse cover shows that the fuses for my car for low beam are 20A. Well, mine had 10's. Used a spare 20. Right side working. Why were fuses the wrong size?

So re-did everything up, check, then all of a sudden the left side went out. Checked the fuse (which was a 10) and it wasn't blown. Put another spare (only had a 25) and bingo, everything is working.

one thing to note is that when the left side stopped working, it would fire and run for about 10sec and then turn off, fuse still in tact.

it could have been your ballasts playing up, wen i installed my low beam kit i had no problems at all, everything worked fine, however wen i installed my high beam kit, i had similar problems without the having the fuses blowing. Sometimes they would work and some they wouldnt and i would get as pulse in the bulb as the light came up to temperatureswapped the ballasts over and the problem went to the other side but has since cleared itself up, weird.

As to y your fuses were wrong size, would just have to have been a f.u.c.k up from holden i reckon

Sorry to bring up a slightly old thread, but any other SS-V owners find that their low light projectors have 10A fuses instead of 20A? Both of my low lights didn't turn on this weekend so decided to have a look at the fuses, both 10A and neither blown, but noticed in the manual it says "regular/HID - 10A/20A" so I assume they mean the SSV Projectors should have 20A.

I've had these bulbs blown (1 at a time) about 2 times each over the cars 4 year life and I'm pretty sure no one has looked at the fuses. Could Holden have put the wrong fuses in all SS-V (mines 09/2006 build btw)?
