Heading off to see the folks on The Murray. Driving from Sydney, I dont go through Albury because of roadworks, I head inland through Wagga, then through Lockhart, Urana and pop out at Berrigan. Can anyone advise the roadwork situation between Gundagai and Albury?
Cheers

We drove through on the way back from Summernats, there was nothing major - I don't even remember a reduced speed limit... Looked like they were re-surfacing some areas, but we had no delays.

i drove Syd-Melb and back 17/18 October and again on 16 November. The November trip I did with a trailer on the return leg.
Found no issues with the roadworks which were occurring extensively between just north of Gundagai to the Albury bypass.
Realistically you wont do better time going Olympic Highway than you will staying on the Hume. The speed zones are erratic but only short stops for construction and tidal flow each way.
By the by I saw 1 highway car between campbelltown and the border on the Nov drive down and back. Not at Goulburn either.

I bet a few more saw you though there are plenty of spots they sit in that can't be seen by car drivers.:)

Hi, i'm from the albury area and i'd just take the hume mate, there are no roadworks in albury just drive straight through on the new freeway.
The freeway duplication to the north should be done by now and most of the work was on the 2 new lanes anyway.
Going through wagga on the olympic would take longer anyway because of the speed limits and slowing through the 6 of so towns you have to go through
I'm not sure what it's like around gundagai.

I have done the trip many times both ways.
You do make up some time going the Gundagai way on the flats because there is NOTHING out there. But Im gettin sick of that route. Think I will head through Albury,,,cheers.

I came down from Sydney on Saturday and didn't really notice any roadworks to be honest. I would do the Hume, it's by far the quickest way. I drive Melb to Sydney 3-4 times a year and this trip was one of the quickest in regards to roadworks etc.
