Guys,
I'm looking at trading in my SSV (Dec 2006 build, first reg June 2007) on a 2007 Clubsport. I want your opinions on whether the deal I've been offered is close to the mark.
My Car:
Impulse blue SSV
Manual
Genuine 14,500 km
Looked after, all in great nick, tyres well over 50% tread.
Potential car:
2007 Clubsport
Phantom Black with black leather
Auto
Sunroof (not a big selling point to me)
53,000 km
Shadow Chrome finish on wheels (looks really good).
I haven't actually seen the car in the flesh yet, but early dealer negotiations seem to have gotten to about $32,000 trade for mine, $47,000 for the HSV.
Unsure of exact month of rego.
The extra kms on the Clubby don't bother me as I won't put many on it, so in a couple of years it will be a low km example. They assure me the seats, steering wheel etc show no signs of wear. I haven't gotten details of the tyres yet.
This car is a couple of hours from me - does it sound like a deal worth taking a look at? I test drove a 2008 (LS3) Clubby recently, and I did feel the driving experience was worth the extra $$$, and I'm looking at an auto soon anyway.
Thanks,
Scott

Anyone? I know it's a fairly specific scenario, but any thoughts would be welcome :)
Also, with the car in question having almost 55,000km on it, is there anything I should look for?

I think the changeover needs to be a bit closer due to the km's.

Yeah agreed....I think the price of the HSV is to expensive, possibly by about 5k if not more. 2007 model, so Ls2?

I'd be looking at getting an 08" model for that just to have the new car warranty. I wouldn't go from an ssv with 14000 to a clubby with over 50k on it, they're pretty cheap the few i've seen so maybe keep looking for a better deal or sell privately then go to them with cash.

As mentioned, it is a premium price for the 2007 Clubby - now 3 years old and with an LS2 engine.
cheers

Thanks guys. I actually thought the price wasn't too bad - it's comparable with most on Drive/Carsales etc. Unfortunately I'm fussy - must be black, must have leather.
LS3s are easily over $50k, most I've seen are in mid fifties with leather.
However, I might have to do some more bargaining - nothing is set in stone at this point.
Private sale of my SSV would be great money-wise, but I need a car, and buying the Clubbie outright first would be a stretch. DEfinitely worth thinking about though.

I paid $42k for my 2007 clubby with leather, sat nav, sunroof and 50k, plus a few extras like 20's. You are paying too much for the HSV.

Scoots, was that a private sale or dealer? Did you think it was a bargain (seems like one based on what's currently available).
I know there's bargains to be had, I payed well under market rate for my last Clubsport because the owner fell on hard times. But based on dealer prices, how far off am I?

Could you spend $15,000 on the SSV....that would make it an awesome car. Wheels, tune, cam, some other stuff would come under $15,000. Or keep the SSV for a few more years and the $15,000 and then buy a new Clubsport when the new look comes out which should be a killer with about 2000kw how things are going.

True, but I just love the E1 bodykit - especially in black.

The prices look close to the mark, there may be $2-3k to haggle out of the deal.
Are you really sure you want to trade the SSV for a Clubby?
As has been said, you could throw a few bucks at the SSV for a power hike or are you keen to have a HSV in the garage?

Actually you are right. A copper in town just got a black E1 and it is HOT!

I got it cheap because they guy was offered the same amount to trade it in, where it was purchased from, lucky for me thats in Traralgon and he didnt want to have to drive 2.5hrs each way to do it.
It was only a few grand cheaper than the others on the market, but being black and with all the accessories (leather/sunroof/satnav/HIDs/park sensors/walky bits, 20's with good rubber, extrators, remus exhaust and 7 months reg etc) it seemed like a really good deal because I had nothing to spend.
I could easily justify the extra 12k over the SS due to all these extras, plus being a clubby over the SS. Easy decision for me.
If I had an SSV i wouldnt upgrade to a clubby, i'd spend a few grand on a OTR+tune and some whiteline gear, that will make it feel just as good as any clubby. The only thing you dont get is the E1 bodykit and tailights :(
