guys i have a noisey auto main drive belt tensioner its not the bearings as i got new ones with the 8pk pulley it seams to be in the spring mechanism it sounds like a rattling knocking if you take some tension of with a long Allan key the noise drops by half
IT IS NOT THE tensioner hitting the stops as i hade that problem when i first installed the blower as the belt was to long due to it being the wrong belt for that kit
i would like to get a new tensioner but this one is only 20.000 km old so not shore weather it is a good idea to get a oem one again
who makes a good after market tensioner and should it be AUTO adjust or Manuel ADJUST seams to be some debate over this ??

An ecs tensioner from the states has the best tensioner. Google east coast superchargers.... What supercharge kit do u have? Did he kit not come with an Upgraded tensioner?
A solid tensioner will work for a couple of months but then your belt will stretch and it wil deteriate the belt very fast!

Ah ok well have a look into the ecs tensioner they are mainly used with the Maggie/pwr kits but should still work with yours... All u would need is a longer belt...

Had this fun myself when I had the Whipple on, happen down in Melbourne, I had nothing with me to fix it.
I had a 3mil Filtergram Drawing up needle, I packed the syringe with my high temp grease and managed to get the needle past the seal and apply some fresh grease to the bearing, stopped the noise immediately :)
The bearings in this application only see 100C and most greases will handle this with a drop point much higher (Mainlube goes up to 350C)
The bigger problem here is at 100C the grease drys out and thickens. The higher temp. spec on the grease means it will go longer before thickening.
When I put the new bearing in I flicked the seal out and replaced the grease with a Mainlube high temp grease and refitted the seal, never touched it again.
So if you spending big $$$ on a tensioner, you can help the application further by applying a decent grease to the bearing and multiplying the bearings life many times further.
We go down to a 400gm grease cartridge at around $30, enough to lube 30 bearings. (good for wheel bearings to)
Cheers
Steve
