As per the title, I am scheduled to finish my MBA from University of Ballarat in Q4 of 2010 and I am looking for a new job.
Mainly looking for advice on where to look, as I dont meet most of the criteria for "graduate" work as I have had over 8 years of work exp.
I have worked as an operations Manager for Hungry Jacks for 5 years in Victoria before moving to work at IBM out of Ballarat where I have been an Incident Coordinator with AGL for the last 2 years, and have just moved into a Service Management Consultant role working with BHP Billiton.
I have an ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate, a Lean Six Sigma Yellow belt, and come March I will be an IBM accredited Associate Project Manager.
I would prefer to stay in Victoria as I have just built a house in Ballarat but by the time I graduate I will be able to move intersate.
You may well ask why I dont stay with IBM, I asked HR for their input on what was best to do and I was advised to leave IBM and come back as otherwise my pay wouldnt work out (i.e the pay rate I got would always be low)
So pretty much looking for suggestions on where to look as I am about out of puff, I have tried Boral, BHP, IBM, DMO, DOD, VIC govt general graduate scheme, etc without luck. Im 26 if that helps at all.

Rough =P
At the moment the plan is if I cant find a job straight out of the Master of Business Administration then I will probably stay on track in IBM and do Project Management while I do my Jusris Doctor at RMIT, probably should have taken a harder look at the combines degree from Melbourne Uni, but as I didnt have an undergrad degree I think I would have found it hard going =\
Plenty of jobs out there mate, just get some experience under your belt and go for it.

Thanks for your input but I think you missed the point, I obviously have tried these (basic) approaches as well as speaking to recruiters and HR departments of the companies I have mentioned.
For anyone that is genuinly interested please see my headhunter professional page Here (http://mycareer-headhunter.com.au/people/BenjaminMitchell)

Can I suggest the following with your background, quals and MBA, that consulting or contract work might be a great way to build your resume further post MBA:
www.ajilon.com.au Ajilon Consulting. Speak to Brent Fuller
www.mtr.com.au M&T Resources (the contracting arm of SMS Consulting) and in fact try SMS also.Speak to Rod Roberts
www.cgi.com CGI Consulting. Have a chat with Nigel Richardson
These will hopefully offer a constructive starting point and good luck.

Here's my two bob..
Your resume needs to be sharper - poorly punctuated and some of the language leaves a bit to be desired. If you want to read law you need to address this - no offence.
Again, no offence, there are plenty of MBA's out there - however if it was a relevant component of hiring for the level of role you've been looking at lately then you get dropped straight on the no pile. The best thing about it, seems to me, is I would read your resume and think you didnt have a strong high school record and no degree, yet you've gone and (almost) attained an MBA - says to me you've addressed a weakness.
Good luck Ben, you seem to have a good work history with good companies and have kept increasing your skills, so see what happens when you finish your MBA.

Thats EXACTLY what I am looking for, thanks a bunch! Looks like M&T are the best bet at this point. but certainly gives me an idea of the skills that are in demand and so what I should be aiming to get by 2011.

Hey Gee, Thanks for the feedback! I agree with your opinion about the proliferation of MBA's (especially with international students without work exp being admitted to programs) and with Ballarat Uni being one of the poorer schools offering the MBA its going to be especially hard for me to get face time with an interviewer.
I have found the resume format to be a particularly subjective thing, some people will go nuts over a resume, while others wont be impressed in the slightest. But it something that I need to be more mindful of, so I will get mine out later on tonight and see what I can do!

Here's my opinion, and take it with a grain of salt. You have nice qualifications, and nice titles (and all at 26!), it just sounds a little talked up. E.g. being operations manager at 18ish years old. Your resume and that other website needs refining (as does my english!).
