Well after one round the Vodafone Boys and HRT boys are at it. V8 Supercar rules have changed and due to the aweful run last weekend, HRT are in a spot of bother. But it meant they got extra track time over night.

Toll Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander has advised TeamVodafone driver Jamie Whincup to “build a bridge” and get over his team getting more practice time at the Gulf Air Desert 400 today.

V8 Supercars adjusted the way practice sessions are run over the off-season, so that rookies or drivers in the lower half in the Championship can exclusively run in the first two 40-minute sessions.

Toll Holden Racing Team (HRT) had a disastrous Yas V8 400. Tander is currently second-last in the Championship on 27 points and teammate Will Davison is 25th with 63 points, allowing them to take part in all four practice sessions at the Gulf Air Desert 400 at Bahrain International Circuit today.

Whincup said the HRT drivers and Jack Daniel’s Racing driver Todd Kelly would be his biggest threats this weekend.

“What was painful today was watching our two opposition, who are high-quality opposition and just had a bad run at Yas Marina, actually get an extra 80 minutes more of practice than what we did,” he bemoaned.

A team that doesn't capitalise on every chance to improve is a stupid team

The aggro and rivalry between 888 and HRT could be the best thing about this years championship. HRT will be seething after their performance last weekend.

888 did nothing but demonstrate why they are currently the best team in pitlane last weekend. To roll out a brand new car on a brand new track and spank the opposition is a top result.

Bring it on i say !

To roll out a brand new car on a brand new track and spank the opposition is a top result.

In the words of Whincup last weekend, "underneath there's not much difference between the two cars".
