Anyone else got one yet? If so, how do u find it? I've had mine for 2 weeks now and it is by far the best phone I have owned to date. I've had an N97 and an iPhone, and this leaves them both for dead.
If anyone is looking for a new phone, highly recommend it.

Looking at the demo video of it I can't see anything it does over an iPhone. You have had both so can you give us some insight as to what makes it better than a iPhone.

I have both. Nexus has better screen for one. Much better in fact. Bigger, far better resolution and AMOLED - much brighter and clearer than iPhone LCD. Better hardware - 1Ghz processor in Nexus vs 600Mhz in iPhone 3GS. Customisable - iPhone has just icons and buttons that you cannot customise, Nexus you can customise with widgets, apps and different wallpapers to create something unique.
Speech recognition is cool - just say "Call Dickbrain" and Dickbrain will be called, or "Search Ls1" and Google search will come up with Ls1 pages. Nexus interacts brilliantly with the Google environment - Gmail, Google Maps, Docs, Goggles, Google Earth/Sky etc. They all work great. 5 Megapixel camera/video and flash, Flash support in browser....Nexus is just newer tech.
Finally, I got my Nexus for $670 landed at my door.....iPhone 3Gs is more expensive.
iPhone is still a great piece of kit, but I reckon Nexus is better.....for now until iPhone 4G comes out at least.

It's coming.....word is that Voda/Three will get it in a few weeks (at best). Telstra is getting the HTC Desire (basically Nexus with some cosmetic/hardware changes and a different Android UI interface) in April.
I got mine by using a VPN proxy to pretend I was in the USA, ordering, then getting delivered to a freight forwarder in the US who shipped it to my door.
Details here;
http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=Google_Phone
Took me about 10 days from ordering to get here.
EDIT - available from Aus importers for considerably more - http://www.smoothmobiles.com.au/product-p/gog-nexus-one.htm

+1
Also, the Nexus is lighter than the iPhone, a lot more attractive, moving and interactive backgrounds. If you use facebook alot, it has a cool feature which syncs your FB contacts with your normal phone contacts and then adds a lot of cool features between the two.
Nexus, has a removable battery, they iphone doesn't. Memory card slots, iphone doesn't.
Nexus also has a cool notification system which integrates all notifications into the one system and works as a drop down menu. TXT msgs, Missed calls, FB notifications, Calendar notifications, Software updates, emails, you name it... All under the one system, it's a pretty clever idea.

iPhone does do the facebook contact sync FYI. That feature has been out for some time now.
I'd like to see this notification feature in the nexus phone.

Take a look at this vid, gives u a fair idea of how the notification system works. Take into account, it also works with calendar, email, facebook notifications(If you have it synced), software updates etc...

And be sure to check out the official Nexus One Youtube Page which some cool how to vids and features:

The one failing that the Nexus one has it its extremely limited and buggy support for Microsoft Exchange. HTC has however released an identical phone (one or 2 minor h/w differences but close enuf to be identical) called the HTC Desire that runs the latest version of the Android OS and has all the Nexus one features, plus some. It also has FULL Exchange Integration which is the one thing stopping the Nexus one from getting a lot of enterprise integration .

Do you guys really work your phones that hard, use all the features?
I have a basic basic Nokia that all I use it for is calls and msging. I have a laptop that does everything else including remote server management etc etc for work. I couldnt for the life of me think of a reason for getting a super dooper phone. I love gadgets so please elighten me so I can give myself justification :)

I had the same idea as yourself, thinking I only need a basic phone to call or msg people ... until my basic phone broke and I decided to give a "flashy" one a try. Now I couldn't imagine having one with less features.
The idea is not to have to carry around your laptop at all. Imagine you're a sales rep and a potential new client calls you and says they'd like a catalogue and an account application. You can email it to them right then and there from your phone.
An example in the case of this forum is that I can sms the admin telling him we're having speed issues or the forum is down. He can be sitting on the beach or out to dinner and still log onto the server, see what the issue is and correct it, or reboot the server, all remotely from his phone, rather than people having to wait until he gets back to his home/office to log in via a PC.
In my job I can be out on the road working and take high quality photos or video of issues or incidents, and email them through from my phone to my bosses or other company depts from site so they're fully informed about what's going on.
While you're on holidays, you can take photos and upload them online, including geotagging, so firstly your friends and relatives can see your adventures on the fly, and see where you are in the world, and secondly since they're uploaded, there's no risk of losing them if your memory card becomes corrupted before you get home from holidays.

I reckon I use my phone more for data these days than calls or SMS'. As above previously I had to use a laptop for alot of stuff. Now the majority of it can be done on my phone and none of it is work related.

Hmmm... I need dual sim though. One for work and one for personal. Obviously use the work sim for phone calls and msg stuff but they won't cut the internet data and the like. Is this a capability?
I've had mine for a few weeks ... was driving a Treo Pro. Wife has a iphone.
Best features about Nexus:
- excellent clarity from the big screen
- speed
- drop down notification bar
- GREAT camera (5MP + 2x zoom)
- ease of use as a simple phone
- integration (I use Missing-Sync for Outlook syncronisation)
- tough ... already dropped it twice
- voice-to-text ... not much typing needed
- track-ball
- light & small
- wide variety of software available
Worst features:
- speaker/audio not as good as iphone
- does not have an application that leaves a (dim) moving clock on the screen when "off", which the Treo does.
The biggest problem with it is ............. my wife wants to swap the iphone!

It's a bit like having a laptop/phone/GPS combined in your pocket.

This is in my next phone list.... Had an iPhone for about 18 months or so now but won't be upgrading until june/july so i'm hoping there will be a release date on the next iPhone as it should be a decent competitor against these (once they're finally released here!).
With 4G starting up in Perth, here's hoping the new iPhone will be 4G friendly!

Is it easy to get the Oz maps for the navigation?? Also, can you just bluetooth Mp3's to it etc to assign as ringtones etc?

Not sure exactly what u mean here but it has google maps fully intergrated into the phone.

No idea, haven't tried it.

As above ... the maps are off the net so are available as long as you have a connection.
Bluetoothing audio & video works perfectly. There are also various audio-editing apps available for customising tunes to ringtones.
