Hi guys my Aircon is leaking water from under the dash board and leaks onto the carpet as i cant work it out. It must be a crack in a hose or something as this is very hard to find. And after a few days the car smells like damp water smell if you know what i mean i hope someone can tell me if they know the cause thanks.
Yeah I had the same thing on my VR commodore. It leaked onto the passenger front floor and after a while causes a musty smell. It turned out to be the pipes freezing up and water condencing on the outside. I would get the system checked out though. Sorry I can't be much more assistance...

Blocked drain tube, unblock with a cable tie, the hole is in the centre of the transmission tunell, You'll have to get under the car to do it.
easy as.

hopefully its as easy and minor as Hi Octane said coz when mums car did this a few years back it was the heater hose along with the unit and dad had to remove half just about the whole front dash to do it :bawl:

If its the heater hose most cases you will get the coolant smell or 'curry' smell as we used to call it. Most times yes will be the drain tube, easy to unblock.

Sounds like the drain tube is blocked and the condensation is building up enough to overflow out of the heater box. They block up due to all the fine crap that falls through the intake vents in front of the windscreen, eg flower stems, small leaves, carpet fluff etc. One way to reduce this substantially is to fit a pollen filter which on most cars these days is an option ready to fit straight in. Make sure you don't just unblock the tube as the blockage could extend to inside the heater box where the drain tube fits on. Use a stiff piece of wire with a small hook on the end and poke it up into the hole and drag any crap out with the hook.
If it builds up high enough it can get into the blower motor and will certainly reduce it's life substantially and the wet carpet will smell like a camel's arse for good !
TIP: when it's unblocked, run tha aircon on fresh and spray some Glen20 through the vents at the bottom of the windscreen (outside). Then put it on recirculate and spray a good dose into the cabin and close all doors and windows. Run for 15 mins on each occassion. This will sanitise and disinfect the ac system and vitually does what automotive dealers charge $80 for using similar products !

andy its a rubber flex pipe, from memory its slightly towards the drivers side but could be wrong on that. its the only pipe in that area so you cant go wrong.
my mate recently had this problem in his vt wagon. it ended up being a hole in the heater core which then leaked onto the air con drip tray. this required pulling the dash apart - just something else to look for in case u cant find the prob straight away...
