No time at all - should be straight away mate
Get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing

What's the average speed when you get 13.8L? As I am sure you're aware average speed makes a big difference. People seem to forget to post average speed when boasting economy figures.

I'm with Roonstain - Noticed a 2l/100km difference on my next tank and found figures of 8.2L/100 at an average of 100km instantly

interesting, admittedly i do put the right foot in a bit harder now, but in saying that, it hovers around 13.8. could be the average speed as was mentioned above, that is only 50km/h and i dont spend long enough on a highway to get it to drop down any further.
should i hit up a trip to the coast to see if it would settle in a bit?

You disabled the main fuel saving feature of the engine.....your economy is going to get worse at cruise, not better :)

Yeah, any proper tuner can do a mafless tune with AFM enabled......
My car was mafless tuned with AFM enabled, and returned some amazing economy figures!

Even a retard tuner can do a tune with AFM still on. Thing is combined with a nice exhaust it makes your car sound stupid. Plus you can lean on them a bit more with AFM off than you can with AFM on and then the difference becomes quite minor.

bingo on what macca_779 said about the sound, butthe way i understood the disabling of AFM, is that the tune would bring around the same numbers as with AFM? someone correct me if im way of the mark hey.
i guess when i get home i will need to take it for a good drive.

AFM is worth keeping. Its a matter of doing more logging to get everything right when its on 4 cylinders. Takes a bit of time but i have a few cars i know could get to Melbourne from Sydney and average around 8.0L/100km - pretty good in a A6 VE. Tuned with AFM will do over 1.0L/100km better than you could ever get with it turned off on a long trip.
