alternator error message

hi guys

has anybody had the alternator message with the battery image turn up on your dash?

mines been doing it alot for the past couple of days and im not sure whether it really is the alternator or that its the battery running out of juice.
have had the car for 3 years now and this is the 1st time its come up.

any ideas would be great.

I've never experienced an alternator message (light yes), but logic tells me that a test with a Volt meter would be a good place to start at the alternator. And a load test on the battery would be a good idea. Battery should show 12.4-13.6 volts for a good battery.

if its a ve with a v6 its the 2 wire connector that plugs into the side of the alt, some contact gel is the fix, put a little on the terms and refit.. happens all the time..

mines the v8.

im gonna have a look at it cos it seems loose i believe like you said.

if its dead i guess it wouldnt come back again.
