Hey all,
I just fitted a mild cam to my ls1 (224/228 .581 .588 112). It currently has a MAFless tune done to suit bolt on mods (OTR, full exhaust etc).
Is it safe for me to drive it to the tuners. Id say 85% of the trip (under an hour) would be freeway.
Any advice or opinions welcomed.
Thanks

You can and some have done it but probably not ideal. If it's mostly highway and lean cruise is enabled you don't want it running too lean for the CAM.
If it will run ... defintely nothing off light/minimal throttle whilst you're driving it to the tuners.

Do a search, this has been asked before, for both cam changes and turbo installs.
I think the forum position in the past was it OK as long as you go easy and don't flog it etc.

I fitted a Comp 228 228 .588 .588 113 and drove to tuner. Even with the already installed hi-stall it was an interesting drive, as every time i got off the accelerater it just wanted to stall.

Keep it under 2500rpm and it will be fine. It will more likely run rich rather than lean as you have effecively made the engine less effecient at low rpm areas and hence the ve will be higher in the tune than actual and will inject more fuel than required. Get the revs up where the cam comes on and it reverses. So don't rev it.
