I need a new alternator for my LS2 and am asking if anyone on here knows a place to pick on up on the cheaper side.
I have contacted my local dealers and their prices are $460 plus.
I want to know if there is a cheaper place to get one. In melbourne.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Yeah I had to replace the alternator the other day.
Bugger of a thing still displays the alternator message even after the alternator has been replaced.
So Ive been told to drive it for a few days and bring it back to them to figure it out cos they couldnt before. Cross my fingers its fixable.
Anyway if only I had the time cos I would have bought it from holmart too.
Better buy a spare in case it stuffs up again. Dam it was expensive around $500 for it. Dont know why Holmart is so cheap in comparison $270 only.

Why not just contact your local auto electrician, they would probably reco your own for half the price or might have a recond one as a change over.

Try a place called "Baxters". I'm a Mechanic and we use them for alot for alternators and starter motors for euro stuff, BMW, Merc, VW ect and there a sh!t load cheaper than genuine stuff. Just not sure weather they only deal with trade. I'll get the phone number for you tomorrow if you want.

Not many Auto Elecs would keep change overs on the shelf these days, they used to but the low cost of a new replacement it is hardly worth their while!

Mate there is only one place to buy starter motors and alternators.
and that's here:

I have purchased 2 from him and the last one only a week or two ago cost me $132 delivered from California. This was a 130 amp hitachi for my Maxima.
I couldn't get one anywhere here (Adelaide) or Melbourne even second hand for less than $350 - $400.
I got both alternators about 5 days after paying for them with paypal.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
