View Full Version : VT HSV - What different models are there?

I am after a list of ALL HSV VT sedans that where made and rough numbers of each.
I have a VT Senator build 009. We are looking as selling. I want a 6speed aussie stroker if possible. Prefer not to go genIII.
What I want is something rare. Even if it was something like the 10th anniversary VT Senator which I believe there was only a handful made.
Hopefully someone can help me with a list and numbers as all my knowledge is pre Commodore.
Cheers
Jason

VT II SENATOR Signature. 8 made in manual. 2 in 99, 6 in 2000
That's all I got for you. but your being a bit narrow minded wanting a 220 stroker. Bit sluggish compared to a lightly tickled, even unopened LS1.

You want rare ... get a VTI Senator wagon. :)
Not sure if they copped the Holden stroker engine though.
As for the rest ... doesn't the HSV website have a list of all current and previous models?

Dunno about the VT but my VR GTS ran 14 flat completely stock which is a 10th quicker than my completely stock VZ SV8 :D Obviously the LSx responds better to minor mods.. tune only the VZ ran a 13.4, never got to tune the GTS so no idea what difference it would have made.

I hate to say it, but the HSV site is rather pathetic for older models. You'd think they'd put a bit more effort in!
Here goes with the Series I's
Manta - 180
Clubsport - 948 Auto/557 Manual
XU6 - 321
Senator Signature - 195i Sedan 323/195i Wagon 27/220i Sedan 208
GTS - 136 Auto/263 Manual
XU8 - 141
The 10th Anniversary's are where you'll get the rare ones, these were as follows...
Clubsport - 104 Auto/70 Manual
XU6 - 10
Senator Signature - 10
VT Maloo - 30 (All Manual)
I'd also go with a Series II. Better performer than the Series I and can still be rare. A couple of examples...
GTS - 117 All Manual
Senator - 25 Auto, 1 Manual, 6 Super6's
Clubsport R8 - 123 Auto, 70 Manual
SV99 - 99
My reference says there was 29 manual sedans Macca (8 Wagons). But it has been known to be wrong on a few points...

I've seen that number thrown around. But I got 8 from forum member DUG (who has the other 99 model) and he got it from HSV if I recall.
Collectively I've never seen another manual besides our two. And I think DUG has only seen one other which was blown. So they sure are rare

Reason I want the aussie engine is due to my muscle car background I guess. All im really interested in is pre WB. BUT. I do have a thing for the VT HSV's. I dont want the imported chev engine. I want my holden, holden.
Power is nothing that a supercharger, turbos etc etc cant fix. =)

Wagons. Did cross my mind. Looked at one once when I brought out Senator. But not really my cup of tea.
As said. the HSV website is very poor!

I thought there would have been more Mantas than that. They where only a standard HSV?
series 1 GTS and XU8. What are these? How do they compare to the senators?
10th aniversary Senator. This is what I do want, even if it was auto. I will convert. If there was one for sale or is one for sale in the next 6 months. I will be looking at it! Bluprinted stroker. Good start for a nice hp engine.
Interested to know more about the series 1 GTS and XU8 though.

Want rare.....
My Clubsport...VTII R8......One of only two in the country with the interior that I have....but having said that......
Being rare means nothing unless you are happy with it......

As you say Looney,
Being rare is nothing compared to the fun you get out of it.
Mines certainly not rare and she is no R8, but certainly an ol dunger worth preserving.

I happened to see one which was a spitting image for yours last year in Noble Park. The owner wasn't a very nice boy!
So, that's at least 4 manwell VT2 Senators.

this gts also has leather and coulsen seats and sunroof which in a gts wasnt all that common because they were so exxy when new not many people could afford these options ontop of the initial cost basically the only difference is that the senators are a little more "luxury" and the gts is a bit more "race" for lack of better terms
this also has the blueprinted harrop 355 stroker engine as fitted from the factory and i have full original dealership paperwork and hsv authentication and thousands and thousands in receipts
for those who have asked for more pics they are in the link below

If you want the 350ci 220i, its going to have to be either a Senator Sig or the GTS.
If you want Coulsons with the 220i, then the GTS is the only one with that combination.
The above example looks to be in excellent condition and a definate credit to the owner. There is also a couple of manual 220i Senator Sigs on Carsales if you're interested...

Mate if your car is still for sale in about 2 months and I cant find a 10th ani senator than we will be talking. Want to trade for a VT Senator 5.0L build no 009. Auto. with cash etc?

The GTS. Had no "gts" logos/badges? No "gts" decals?
OVZ-346

it has gts decals on the bottoms of the rear doors and one on the bootlid in the centre under the spoiler
these are factory fitted but i have replaced them and i also have a spare set of genuine ones also

Yeh did notice after I looked the gts up.
What is invoilved in fitting dual zone climate control? I think this is the big downer from going from the senator to a GTS.
The missaz doesnt like the red. But will work on that.
OVZ-346

i only bought mine because it was red... its the flashier looking of all the colours... plus red is faster hahaha
im not sure whats involved with fitting it.. it could be done relativly easilly id say but personally id leave it be because the car is 100% factory other than brakes and cat back whech can be changed in a days work... how many total stockers do you ever see??

i owned a white VT 1 gts 220kw with leather coulsens 6speed, awesome car and easilly kept up with stock ls1s in its day, i owned an auto vt2 clubby at the same time and the gts just felt like it had more grunt, it seemed to shift the weight of the car a bit better and i loved the sound of the old holden engines too.

thats exactly how i feel about mine the old 220's are great engines with awesome low down torque and pull rather hard... ls1's tend to need to be would up a little more to feel fast
even standard my gts sounds way tougher when revved a bit than my cammed vz ss-z ute

in 2003 i had the GTS still and i also had an auto vy clubby and a manual vy clubby out of the three of them id almost always take the GTS. if i knew then what i know now id probably still have the GTS, it doesnt take much to get them to go, compression ratio and inlet manifold went hand in hand to hold them back, the VT HSV series 1 or 2 still look great in my opinion and probably why i still have my GTO coupe,

yeah... hence why im not bothered in the slightest if mine sells or not... ive owned it nearly 3 years and done less than 1000km.... in the 3 years its only done 2 6 month stints with registration other than that its a shed beast :)
