Guys, Last few days my VZ SS Ute has decided to start only 50% of the time. What happens is
1. I open door with remote key
2. insert key in ignition,
3.Turn key and see dash light up for a second then whole car shuts down.
4. What I do is open bonnet, and have a play where the relays are? ( small grey cubes with pins )
5. Sometimes I then hear cd changer start flicking through cds and I have dashlights again.
6. Start car and then fine for rest of day so far.

This seems very intermittent and I am not sure me playing is anything to do with fixing it. Can anybody please give me some ideas before I go get confused by Holden.

maybe replace the relays, can't recall if their is a specific main power one, they are just fusible links I think maybe check those, and the battery connections are clean and tight

yeah new battery fitted 1 month ago and showing full charge. When playing around relays, this is when cd changer starts flicking again and car starts. I think the cd changer is just doing some sort of start up. Dont think this is where the problem lies.
Loose contacts? I not real good under the bonnet!!!!

considering a new battery was fitted prob best to check the battery terminals are clean and the connections are tight - then got from there.

So pop the bonnet, visually inspect terminals and check they wiring connections are tight.

Yeah checked them this morning. Not sure this would cause the car to shutdown as soon as I turn the key but???

As soon as the battery terminals get a loose contact 50% of the time you loose dash lights and power, This exact thing happens on my daily car, im just to lazy to replace terminals

Ok this is what I am going to do.
I took it to holden to see if any codes came up and there are none. So I am going to change the relays that I was playing with to see if this helps. Then I will change the battery terminals if relays dont work. Battery terminals look ok by the way.
