V8 Supercar Stewards have excluded the results of Mark Winterbottom, Steve Richards and Steve Johnson from race eight of the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship.

Ford Performance Racing admitted that brake rotors were fitted to the incorrect sides of the rear of the Winterbottom’s #5 Falcon and Richards’ #6 Falcon.

Following the stewards hearing, Johnson’s #17 Falcon was also excluded “for an ineligible vehicle” with the rear rotors also fitted to the wrong sides of the car.

The incorrect configuration is said to retain heat better and allows the cars to gain an advantage, particularly at a circuit like Hamilton.

Johnson finished fifth in the race while Winterbottom finished 14th and Richards finished 15.

The exclusion of the results also affects the Championship points standings, with the removal of Winterbottom’s points from race eight relegating him to third behind TeamVodafone’s Jamie Whincup and Johnson’s teammate James Courtney.

The thing I don't get is why didn't they do it for all the cars involved with the teams? With DJR it was only Johnson, but not Courtney, or Webb. With FPR it was Frosty, and Richo, but not Dumbrell.

Something just doesn't seem right. I think there's more to it than just a simple mistake. Pretty big coincidence for two big Ford teams to do something like this.

to be honest DJR HAD 1 OF 3 CARS so it could of been a honest mistake
FPR had 2 of 3 which throws up suspicion.

So you can't fit C12R to the left hand side or vice versa or put the rears on the front, etc

All there in black and white as the drawings specify which way the rotor has to rotate as well
