I know this may have been brought up before but never really came up with the problem. Im having great difficulty trying to change gears at high revs as its just to damn notchy. Cars fitted with a Tex Z grip, Rip shift and just had braided clutch lines fitted which made no difference at all. Tried mainlube gear oil, no difference either also ive heard friction modifier can help and others say it will make it worse? I know alot of people are having this problem and hoping someone may have figured out the problem by now as i want to track the car but dont want to embarrass myself with this crap gearbox. Is this just how the mm6 t56 is?

was it doing this before or after the clutch install?
Also Ive noticed at the track 2nd to 3rd shift I have to shift about 300rpms earlier to get a smooth shift

Hi Guys,
The oil thickens up after about 80,000 kms making it harder to change gears. Fresh oil makes the gears change easily. The down-side is that fresh oil together with a tad of wear results in a rattly box when revved.
Hey Zorak!! I think I know the guy in your Avitar gif. He almost ran me off the road on my bike!! I've seen him run through heaps of red lights!! He drives in the right lane 10km/h UNDER the limit and on his phone and level with a Kenworth in the left lane. He makes hard left turns from the hard right lane without indicating. If he's who I think he is, he's a total bastard of a driver.

No good to hear you're still having shift problems.
There are a few (very few) that we couldn't get the shift smoother, these are particularly tight boxes (good for longevity, bad for gear changes)
Mainlube has just turned out a new gear oil especially for the T56, it has a GL5 gear spec Group 4 Group 5 blend and is the same viscosity as ATF and will still have the Solid Boundary additive. It's called Mainlube 154 Synthetic Solid Boundary E P Gear Oil SAE 75w80 (ISO 62 @ 40C)
As you didn't receive the benefit you were after when changing to the Mainlube gear oil, I'm prepared to send you "free of charge" this new t56 gear oil to try?
You interested??
PM me your details and I'll send it to you.
It will cost you your opinion.
Cheers

No worries Louie (got your PM)
I'll send some out Monday / Tuesday.
Will check a sample of the old Mainlube 154 with Filtergram to see how she's been going.
Do you want to put a T56 high temp rare earth magnetic bung in when ypu change??
Cheers
Steve

Sounds similiar to me mate.
Except my 2nd to 3rd on high revs is perfect. Under lower revs if I slam it in 3rd it isn't a smooth process, almost a 2 stage shift.
My box has been reco'd though so is nice and tight.
Yeah I have a T56 M12 that's done about 60,000km and it feels really notchy in 1st,2nd,3rd but great between 3rd,4th,5th and 6th. Almost a pain in the arse to drive. I havent done any reading up about it yet so no idea if it's how they are or faulty etc.
Don't need one

yeah i have sorta the same problem but only second to third, if the revs get to high it simply wont go into 3rd

I'm having a few issues too at high revs changing from 2nd to 3rd. Currently have rip shift and Tex clutch and 60K.
I have ordered oil from mainlube. We will see how we go!
